I never write reviews. Literally never. But one day App Store reviewed Resonance of the Ocean and it looked fun, so I decided to download it. Iโm glad I did. It has an undertone of mystery with the echoing sounds and the notes left in the house, but is at the same time a peaceful and leisurely puzzle game. It doesnโt take long to playโIโve finished it over seven times and each round only takes about ten minutes at most. The animation is beautiful and the music is as well. Itโs exactly what you look for in a gameโquiet but challenging, difficult at times but not frustrating. Itโs simple, cute, and comes from a small indie studio. I love it, and give it five stars all the way. Now for a little dose of constructive criticism. The notes inside the house and the whole concept of sounds echoing beyond the ocean warrants a sequel. Resonance of the Ocean is fine on its own, but the story could deepen and have tons of potential if the studio made a second game expanding on the notes. Perhaps the main character could find something back home connecting to the island? They then could return and try to uncover the secrets of the resonance. All in all, a wonderful little game for anyone needing some downtime. Music is wonderful, sound is beautiful, animation is the sweetest thing since blueberry scones. These are all just suggestions for the studio if Pujia8 Limited ever wants to make a Resonance of the Ocean sequelโor prequel. Just saying! Thanks for reading, and have fun playing! ๐
I love this game. All the sounds are so beautiful and I love how no audible dialogue exists except the sounds exchanged by both of the sides. Itโs such a gorgeous game, and I wish it was longer. I finished this game in the span of 25 minutes, but it was worth every second. I just really wish it was a long game. You could add a feature of along with making sounds the same, letting the character figure out what everything means and improving the island and finding food. I think this game is one of the best games Iโve played in my entire life. Itโs so calming, and all I wish is that the game was longer and got updates that lengthened the game. I think this game is so pretty, so good, and itโs officially one of my favorite games. Finding the harmonious sounds and rhythm between islands is so fun. If this game was longer, I think I would be the happiest person ever! -Me
I had fun playing, but I found myself wishing there was more to discover. The note in the house was hinting to more storylineโฆ so it was a bit disappointing to get to the credits shortly after finding it. The art is beautiful, the soundtrack is amazing, the concept is great. I just think there could be more to the game than there is, like more levels, or being able to store items in some kind of cute base, maybe meeting whatever is making the other sounds. I think it would be cool if that was the objective, to find this person using what you learn along the way, like pieces in a puzzle. The house was a little tricky to walk through because some of the furniture wouldnโt let you go through, I thought I was stuck near the picture frame at one point. But overall, I still enjoyed it, worth playing even if itโs quite simple. I get you may be trying to be appealing to children but it might be too much trial and error for them.
