Let me first say that I grew up playing RBI Baseball on Nintendo. My all time favorite sports game. This was supposed to be a modern version and ode to that classic NES gem. It does a pretty good job doing so but it's never gonna be like the original game people. Get real. So don't complain about every stinkin detail because it's not a direct port!! It's still fun. Sure there are issues. But this version has every team and it also lets you choose the option of playing with the original teams. All current players and rosters are here which was cool. Season, exhibition, and playoff modes. I REALLY wish I could play Friends over wifi or online. Please add!! On the bad side, there are some serious balance issues with certain players, there are WAYYYYY TOO many double plays that seem to only occur when I'm batting. Other problems---sometimes pitchers are gassed in the 3rd inning, swiping to base run is super sketchy and non responsive, the computer seems to have miraculous come backs every time they need to, the auto fielding with the infielders can be brutally bad, and you can't save any progress mid-game if you close the app out. But... I still like this game and am currently enjoying season mode. I can't wait for playoffs in my season. If I could only whomp on my old childhood friends again...
This game actually could be pretty fun to play but in a lot of ways that makes all the issues even more annoying. The game play is awful the people who designed and tested the game obviously had no idea about the game of baseball. Eric Sogard takes a pitcher inside off he plate and hits a home run down the line opposite field. Half the time you hit ball to the wall the runner gets thrown out at 2nd base. The swipe controls are really hard to use and leads to a ton of wall ball singles. The base controls are tiny which leads to far to many infield ground balls with me tapping away trying to get my fielder to hopefully throw the ball before it turns into an infield single. Nothing like watching a ground ball up the middle on the ss side of the base where the 2b is stops on second base yet the ss hasn't moved since the ball was hit and the ball rolls into the outfield for a hit. Final straw is all the crashing. I've had 3 games where the game crashed as I was getting the final out and the game is done. There is also no way to save a game so if you don't finish the game it never happened and you replay for the beginning on season mode.
Needs to have full rosters, I want to be able to have the strategy of putting in pinch hitters in big at bats. And I hate having starting pitchers come in as relievers, because your starter gets tired in the 5th. Every time I go into extra innings, the game crashes. And they need to update the rosters a lot more. They did it once in the two months I've had the game. The base running is horrible. If you don't swipe perfectly, then you're not running anywhere. The game is addictive, but the CPU always has late rally's, and if you keep a pitcher In too long, then they destroy him, and keep the rally going. Until you have no more pitchers, and it's the 8th and they've scored 10 runs on you. My players also get into huge slumps, in my season Ben Revere hasn't hit it 10 games, so I started subbing him out, but then if I need a sub I'm screwed. Which is why next year they need fuller rosters. With all 5 starters, at least 3 relievers. All starting position players and all bench players. They should add more roster updates, and fix some bugs. It is a game we paid for, and we deserve to have it be great, and It definitely can be.
