Pocket Plants: Cozy plant game

I really enjoy this app. I like the cute plants, and the little objectives and things to do keep things fun while you wait on plants to merge and whatnot. That said, it’s become pretty much impossible to progress after a certain point. After I got to the water world, sometimes merging plants would crash the game and upon restart, I would lose the plants I tried to merge and most of the things I did during that play session would be totally lost. I figured out that this happened when there were too many plants on screen, so I was just careful about how much I planted and merged. Same thing in the tropic world, but this time even less plants in the tropic world would crash the game. I could still play it, I just had to deposit everything but the two plants I merged at a time until the world had been cleaned up. Now that I’ve gotten to the zoo world, I can’t merge at all. I merged the first two “starter” plants to get a new plant with no problem, treating it like I treated the tropic world. When I tried to merge another combo, even the same one again, it would crash the game no matter if I had no other plants on screen but the two I was merging. I can’t progress at all any more. I thought I’d wait through a couple of bug fix updates and see if it got fixed before writing a review so I could give it a better star rating, but unfortunately it hasn’t been fixed yet. I would love to give this app the five star rating I think it deserves not counting this crash issue, but until it gets fixed I sadly can’t.

I have been looking for a game like this for a long time!! So far it is 5 stars even though it takes waiting time to earn amethyst plants (can be purchased $ if you prefer -I may prefer as days of play pass) to more quickly unlock new seedlings to enter new lands, but so far my patience is rewarded somewhat adequately by walking (pair with 🍏Health app) and utilizing other various options in game play. It is a bright colorful game with clever & adorable (even the notorious stick weeds!) animation, and furthermore in each level you are able to reduce the effects of pollution/ land waste with various combinations of species to create space to harvest new growth. I am still learning what each of those additional options are while playing in game, and how adding friends can promote progress, as well as figuring out the nature of useful categories can enhance my points to develop my lands. All that noted, I am leaning toward purchasing an amethyst tree to more efficiently increase my harvest potential, yet @ $8.99 to do so still seems a bit steep to endorse that additional expense. It would be very much appreciated if app developers generously made the special trees more accessible, at least after first faithfully playing several levels, enough so this player can ascertain that amount is truly justified for enhancing my plant world. Beyond that pleading notion, I still remain committed to play each day as it is super fun and rewarding to do so!

Now I don’t normally write reviews but I feel like this game is worth it. I’ve had it downloaded for about 6 months now and it has never disappointed me. In the beginning it can be slightly demanding of your time and effort but once you’re further along it gets so much easier. I love how there’s a point system for how many steps you can take and how the game doesn’t require you to check in every single day. I’ve had it for quite some time and I haven’t unlocked all the worlds yet. There are countless games out there that require you to tend to things or else they die or whatever and I’m so glad this isn’t one of them. 😌 All in all, it’s a lovely game to help unwind after a stressful day at work. The gameplay is simple and the graphics are one of a kind. What more is there to love? 🌱✨
