The exhibit itself is beautiful, and the overall concept is very cool. I won’t spoil any more than necessary. The app is obnoxious and ruins the experience. I’m spending time in the exhibit writing a one star review instead of enjoying it, in hopes that teamLab will take feedback and improve the experience for others. First, catching animals on the floor is near impossible, so I gave up and learned nothing about those species. Second, the requirement to catch three of each species to unlock the entire ecology card is wholly unnecessary. There are 87 species in the exhibit. It would take several hours to make all 261 catches. That’s only if you don’t catch duplicates, which is impossible because many times the animals are layered and the arrow will hit a different target than the silhouette on your screen. This exhibit would be amazing if you could simply point the camera and read the species card. Because of this app, the educational component a massive time waster.
it works
When you aim at an animal to shoot it, doesn’t recognize it at all. But, sometimes you can shoot the air and it will hit a random animal. Also the screen randomly freezes sometimes. I recommend just ignore the app and walk around on your own. Looking through your phone screen takes away from the experience.
