Picmonic Medical School Study

When my med school offered us a discount on this, I thought it was just a knock-off of Sketchy. I am happy to say I was wrong! I am about to start my dedicated board prep and I got so tired of Anki, board-style Qs and PPT lectures. This does not replace those but it offers such a great brain break. It’s helping me review a lot quickly and for it to stick, too. I am using Picmonic and Qs only atm and I feel it was a worthy investment (as someone who is not a dedicated slave to Anki). (Tho there are Anki cards to go with the Pic sketches if you wish!)

Everything about this app works well. I already see improvements to my exam scores after one week! The staff is extremely responsive to questions. This works seamlessly with Osmosis Uworld and First Aid. A Chief Resident ER Attending told me that a picmonic helped him make several obscure diagnosis under pressure. It’s a funny cartoon yes, but it sticks to your brain like a leach. Maybe saves lives. Great use of your time.

The developers reached out to me and got the issues resolved. They even upgraded my program to give me USMLE content. My frustration did not reflect the quality of the program itself, which is really pretty good. I think that having multiple layers of content predisposes to getting wires crossed. Anyway, I have revised my initial assessment and so far can give it five stars. It is not a full course in medicine, but it isn’t intended to be. It is a useful adjunct to your studies. It delivers high content in digestible packets.
