I've adored this game for several years now. It's engaging, there's a lot of quests and events as well as an active community. My main issue is the lack of a world map. I understand that part of the fun is supposed to be blindly exploring but if you live in an area that isn't walking friendly like I do, it's really difficult to start going somewhere without a set destination in mind. My main issue is when I accept a job at an inn and don't finish it until days later. In which case I need to return to the inn to complete it but my only clue on its whereabouts are the general distance in meters and an arrow showing its general direction from my current location. It's not practical to just blindly walk until I get there if its across a forest or major highway that I'm not aware of until its in front of me. A world map would be incredibly helpful (it doesn't even have to have undiscovered points of interest) to just be able to plan out my journey ahead of time which would actually make going to inns demonforges, dungeons, and alchemists significantly easier. Even just free map movement that just allows you to see within a couple miles of your current location would be incredibly helpful.
"Orma" is a game that presents a significant imbalance during the early stages, especially up to level 100. One of the most glaring issues is the scarcity of resources, making it extremely difficult for new players to progress. Despite grinding for over 20 days, it’s common to find that you still haven’t gathered enough resources to complete even one of the beginner quests. This kind of experience can be frustrating and discouraging for new players who are still learning the game mechanics. It feels as though the developers are focusing on catering to the needs of long-time players, possibly neglecting the fact that fresh players need a smoother and more rewarding early game experience. Veteran players may have access to resources accumulated over months or even years, making it easier for them to breeze through quests. However, for new players, the grind is disproportionate to the rewards, creating a steep difficulty curve that can be off-putting. If "Orma" expects to retain new players, the beginning experience needs to be better balanced. Initial quests shouldn’t be so heavily weighted against players who haven’t invested months of time. Instead, there should be more accessible paths to resource gathering or more reasonable quest requirements, allowing newcomers to feel a sense of accomplishment and progression without being bogged down by a seemingly endless grind.
I’m deleting this game, because most videogames aren’t my thing anymore and I havent touched this game in awhile, but maybe I’ll come back to it. This game was instrumental but not soley responsible for helping me lose weight over covid. I live in a small semi-rural town with very little to do. Pokemon go did not help me get outside because it only takes into account landmarks, of which my town has very few. This game helped me become comfortable with going outside and I actually got to play it since I didn’t have to rely on sparce pokestops for items, and I could complete some quests just by going on daily walks through my neighborhood. I used to hate going outside, now I love it! I’ve even started eating healthy. If you are an overweight and/or generally unhealthy shut in who lives in an area with nothing to do get this game to give yourself a reason to go outside, and apps like iNaturalist or eBird so you can start enjoying the outdoors itself. (If you live in a boring city maybe try urban sketching). Thank you so much!
