NAL LAUNDRY

Better than an old system of going to apt office up the street and reloading a card with a chip that you had to buy and you could only use cash 4 dollar bills. To reload you you put cash in dollars tens fives. If you lost the card you had to buy another. So this system I can just reload on the app digitally and no extra fees. Through the app I get notified also when my laundry is done which is so perfect since I live on the top floor and laundry room is in the basement. I like this system way more for sure.

Landlords, please do not subject your residents to this awful app. My building switched to this a few years ago and I’ve had multiple frustrating issues, including being double charged for cycles, getting locked out of my account and having to make a new one, and having to delete and reinstall the app because it wouldn’t connect to the machine. Not to mention the full page ads that pop up every time you do something in the app. It is not worth the supposed “convenience.” Not only that, but the machines can ONLY be used via the app and don’t accept cards/quarters…so enjoy troubleshooting while you have a load of wet laundry in the washer. Can’t wait to permanently delete this garbage from my device as soon as I move out.

This software runs a medium sized laundry room for a large older apartment building in Pittsburgh. The company, NAL, had been (mis)managing very old problematic machines until a resident got fed up that they did some damage. TBH all of us residents wanted to do damage to the place…machines broken for months, poor to no connectivity in the basement, and a complete black hole of customer service. Eventually new machines were installed, whole-building wifi was installed, and voila the app works, the machines work, and all is right with the world. NAL continues to slow-walk machine service requests, which is really annoying when you only have 8-9 of each kind. Overall past issues were the result of NAL ineptitude and landlord (Mozart) failure to advocate for its residents. Now, it’s up to the residents to keep the place clean and functional. Occasionally we certainly fail at that.
