Opened after purchasing and says it needs to be updated??? There are more minimal pairs available than it shows, but you have to dive into the settings to actually see it all. Still, it only targets initial sounds. You can add pictures, but you have to do that through the settings within that board, which is not obvious. The activities are good, but some of the boards are limited. I haven’t figured out if there’s a way to add your own boards.
I love this apps ability to pair words and the fact that it is free... I was a bit disappointed that there are so few word pairs on here already and the app doesn't have a picture bank to create my own cards. The only way for me to do this is to upload photos from the Internet. Because of this I rate it 4 stars... To be expected considering the app is free, but it could be a bit better.
I'm a resource teacher, working with ELL and dyslexic students. This app will be great to expand their vocabulary and work on rhyming words. There are 4 different games to play. Three teach the vocabulary of similar sounding words. Photo Touch is fun because the student chooses the correct word of two pictures. It doesn't have an annoying buzz if the student misses it. It just puts a red "X" on the wrong answer and removes it . Then the child can select the correct answer.
