I really like the presentation of this app! I can't wait to try it with my students. Much appreciated is the depth of practice available for each pair. Even many adults still don't "no" when to use a certain homophone. Thanks for the pictorial display, sometimes I wasn't sure what the picture was trying to convey though. Overall, a big step for homophones! Thanks
I love the idea of this app and was excited to try it with my struggling speller. Some of the activities were fine, but others were unnecessarily tricky. When focusing on one particular homophobe, I'd prefer that it be the only word spelled incorrectly in the sentence. For instance, one of the first sentences in "allowed/aloud" says something like, "He reed the instructions allowed." First of all, "red" should have been the substitute for "read," but by putting two errors in, it takes away the focus on the homophones I want my daughter to learn. Maybe these sentences are reused on multiple boards, but I did not see a lot of repetition in my first review. I might try this with an older child who won't be confused as easily, but I'd still prefer the one-error format.
Very nice app. I plan to use it to support my teaching...as any teacher can attest many students at any age has difficulty with spelling and word identification ...I wish this app did not look so primary because it is a turn off to my intermediate age students.
"Finally a great way to introduce homophones to kids! This app is amazing!" First grade teacher and mom. WHY PARENTS AND TEACHERS LOVE THIS APP - Fu...
