I really wanted to like this app. I’m a coach/fitness professional and a lifter. I loved that this app was made by a fitness professional, and I was excited that Jordan Syatt recommended it. I also really hate my fitness pal and was psyched for an alternative ! This app sadly falls short in so many ways. Maybe I’m missing something ? Would appreciate a response if so! First, there is no way to save foods. In MFP, you can save “Orginal silk soy milk 1 cup” as one of your saved foods. That way, when building meals, you can simply select foods (and the exact serving you usually have of that food) and compile them into a meal. In this App, one must search for the food and select the serving every time. Next, making saved meals is really not useful in this app, because you can’t search the food database to make meals. Instead, when creating a meal, one must know exactly how many calories carbs fat protein the entire meal or food item has. If I’ve logged all the foods and servings from the database for that day, why can I not simply select all those foods and save it as a meal? Am i really meant to manually add up the macros and enter that as a meal? When making a saved meal, you cant search the database, and must instead enter in the exact macros of food #1 /2 etc? That seems ridiculous and makes the app really in user friendly and time consuming. I think all the info Mike provides, as well as the much more accurate equations, are freaking awesome. Sadly this app just doesn’t follow through on the actual usability. Unless I’m missing something🤷🏼♀️ I’ll have to go back MFP for now sadly - but if they were to ever improve the usability of this app through saved foods and the ability to create meals through logged foods and the database, I’d be excited to come back.
I love Mike's Macros. I tried the big name tracker apps and this one is by far the easiest, simplest, cleanest, most accurate one. That being said, with a few improvements, it could be incredible. It just lacks a bit of user-friendliness. Saving meals for later is such a great feature, but once you start saving a bunch of things, that list becomes unruly. It would be great to be able to organize saved meals into folders and to be able to drag and drop the order within the folders and the order of the folders themselves. Same for “my day” - I’d love to be able to drag and drop things into the order in which I’ll consume them after I build my day, maybe even check them off as I go so I can see what I still have ahead for my day. I’ve been using the app on and off for over a year and I haven’t seen any big updates so I’m not holding my breath for any of these changes, and I know it took a lot for Mike to develop this app, but if there’s any overhaul on the horizon, I’d love to see a few tweaks to improve the user experience.
This App has all you really need to be 100% in charge on your diet. It’s Simple to use and has a very pretty minimalistic interface. There are no fancy graphs or colorful charts in this one, but you know at a glance how your day is going. It allows to create custom meals and has “quick add” option to really track everything you eat. It gives you the possibility to split macro goals into Rest/Training Day (So useful), a small but very accurate food database, Spot on Macro Calculator and it’s actually free: No Advertising, No Upsells, No Spam. This is really good!
