I was scrolling on Pinterest when I found this app and decided to check it out. It was amazing from the get go! The sync was really nice, and they found a really nice way to integrate the UX and UI design! I loved how it worked like a real vinyl too, you can put the needle anywhere on the vinyl and it plays at that point in the song, not the beginning! I thought it was a really cool app, itโs just kinda annoying how it says to pay in big letters in the bottom, making the navigation kinda confusing. But even then, the lifetime membership is really cheap, only $15 dollars! Whether itโs worth the price is if you plan to use it a lot or want cool widgets on your phone screen like an iPod/radio/vinyl actually spinning on your Home Screen, or wanna get rid of ads, etc! The ads tend to be quite long but donโt pop up too often, although kind of often. But for only $15 it is a good price to pay imo. Super cool app, definitely recommend!
I like the idea behind the app since I find it aesthetically pleasing but the widget is so glitchy (I have an iPhone 16 pro, running on the newest IOS). I canโt access the vinyl app from the widget (clicking it does nothing despite the app settings indicating it should open the app) and often times the widget just completely greys out, and I have to re-add the widget to my home screen to get it to work again. Also, the record image on the widget doesnโt update automatically between songs. You have to switch back-and-forth between the vinyl app and your home screen to get the widgetโs record image to update. The widget is the main thing that it has going for it in my opinion, since you canโt select songs or playlists from directly within the vinyl app (it only has a forward, back, and play/pause button) - you have to go to whatever your primary music app is to select a particular song. In which case, you end up using your primary music app most of the time anyway. One feature I really would like to see added (after the bugs are fixed) is the ability for the widget background to be transparent. It would just really elevate the home screen much more. In my opinion, itโs not worth the $5 or however much I paid with these issues. I will say I do really appreciate that they didnโt try to charge a subscription. That is a MAJOR plus.
I downloaded this app and bought the one-time pro package on a whim; Worth mentioning the app is basically unusable without it, but for $6 (+1 for not using a subscription model), not bad. This app is pretty good, nothing is clunky, the features that are there work well. However, in my opinion it lacks a lot of features to make it worth the premium. I shouldnโt need to use apple music to play my songs. Why not an option to search records like you would in a record crate as a search option. Also, why use individual tracks when playing? There should be an option to play an album and skip around to each individual track, like a real record player. Maybe even .45 records for singles/epโs?On that note, where is the personalization? For an app focused on aesthetic, a handful of widgets and colors doesnโt cut it for me. I think the ability to customize your vinyl by creating, sharing, and importing mockups would be great. More than 5 colors of the same record player would definitely be welcome too. The widgets are nice but there definitely needs to be more options for those too, in terms of coloring at the bare minimum. Overall, Iโm choosing to be positive and I see a lot of potential in this app. Its current features run smoothly and I feel that given some time this app could really take off. Until then though, it serves purely as an app for those looking for a half-aesthetic gimmick.
