This app is a lifesaver. Highly recommend it if you have the MCAT soon and didn’t have a lot of time to prepare, you can use this app to study months of content in a matter of weeks if you put in the time. My only complaint would be there isn’t a way that I can tell to report errors. E.g. there is a chemistry question in the app that says “this molecule” but no picture is given so answering the question accurately is pretty much impossible, or another example would be the teacher makes an error saying sodium is [He] 2s1 but it should’ve been [Ne] 3s1. There’s no way to really give this feedback that I can tell so these errors may persist and confuse other students. Outside of some minor errors like that which are basically just typos, the app is robust in effective for studying and is helping me review and learn a lot for my MCAT coming up.
Overall I’m happy with the user interface, content, and ability to preload a schedule based on my specific study timeframe, especially as a free app. As a previous user of paid MCAT prep courses and other free study materials, this definitely combines a lot of my favorite things into one convenient system. My biggest complaint is there seems to be some lack of proofreading regarding the practice questions. More than once I have come across questions that were poorly worded (ex. If 66 g of AlCl3 reacts with excess AgNO3 to produce 151 g of AgNO, what is the percent yield? - the error being that AgNO is not an appropriate product in this reaction). The explanations are largely helpful (as in this case where the correct product was listed: AgCl), however it is difficult to actually test my knowledge and understanding in these cases. I would also recommend making a pop up periodic table available for science questions, rather than switch between the app and my internet browser.
This app is exactly what I needed to stay accountable. This whole COVID situation has had an impact on my motivation, as I’m sure it has for many other pre-meds. As such, I was looking for something to keep me motivated and accountable. Since I’ve been glued to my phone for the past month, I decided it would be beneficial to delete all social media apps and put this one on my home screen. Probably the most sound decision I’ve made lately. I still have about 6 months to go before test date. This app sets up a 30 or 60 day study plan for you. I’m using the 30 day plan to jump-start my studies. With the seemingly overwhelming quantity of information to review, it’s nice to have some guidance and take some of the planning work out of the equation. Beneficial for every pre-med looking at taking the exam soon. Yes, you’ll need supplemental material, but it’s definitely a good way to jump start the journey.
