after moving all of my DnD related stuff to IPad, this app seemed great as an alternative to dungeon scrawl, which i think the creator might have assets on, at least some of them looked familiar idk, anyway, it was great for making landscapes, but kind of lack in the super fine details (i was attempting to make a map of a city in my campaign) and i had to make every building from scratch (kinda). It’s a great app and I’m sure my explanation is under par, just not quite what i need. That being said i do see this app being very very good in the future if the dev keeps up the awesome work
There isn’t much to say right now. I didn’t see many reviews so I wanted to go ahead and try it out. Unfortunately, I couldn’t do anything but play with the map size from the edit button. After picking a size, I realized there were two options to select. I could cancel, which worked, or I could choose available assets, which did not work despite having the free trial assets downloaded. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still didn’t work. I also tried to figure out how to get in touch with the developer team, but couldn’t figure that out. Basically nothing happened, but I am interested in trying out this app. It looks like fun even though it’s a more limited free version. And, yes. I’ll update my review if I am able to actually use the app. But right now, I just don’t know what I could be doing wrong. UPDATE: It’s fixed! After a few months, I revisited the app and it works great! I watched the quick start video and followed along with no problems. For a free iPad app, it’s great! I wanted something quick and easy for when I have my iPad around but not my laptop. This fits the bill! I’m just starting out so the free version will work for now. But I’ll be keeping an eye on the paid content. It’s a good free basic map maker for fantasy role-play with additional options available for purchase. I’m very happy to be able to update my review!
Didn’t take more then 15 minutes to get used to the tools that offer good enough customization for creating detailed grid maps for D&D. Only issues I’ve had in my few hours using it were that the path layer was unable to be edited, so I was unable to add walls, doors, and cliffs, as well as I wish that along with the grid size there was a recommended size for printing out the map on paper. For example, a 20x25 map will fit on a 8x14 cardstock, and more comparisons later on. For my campaigns I always get my maps printed at my local print shop, so knowing how big to create my maps would be a great bit of knowledge to have. Other than these two things, I enjoyed the ease of placement and editing and the detail with all the placeable objects. I see this being a very successful resource, I’ve already subscribed and am excited to see what else will be added in the future!
