Lollipop - Smart baby monitor

Update: Some of the disconnection problems were resolved, although it is annoying that their constant tinkering with the app leads to these issues. In addition, the firmware update (which for some reason only pushes if you select for it to be done at a later time) does finally have the ability to toggle off the auto night mode. Still, I am not sure whether or not I would recommend the camera to others. It does have some good features, but the app has gotten so bloated. We have two cameras, one for our 3 year old that we have been using since she was born and one for our newborn. As others have mentioned, the app is now bloated and the cameras disconnect constantly. We never used to have this problem when our older child was born. Same house, same internet. We are finally throwing in the towel and getting an audio only monitor for our older child. Her camera now crashes constantly and can only reconnect after being unplugged. I don’t need some fancy app. I just want a monitor that works. My wife also gets frustrated that if a room isn’t very dark that the camera will constantly switch back and forth between night mode and day. This causes the camera to make a very loud audible clicking noise. There is no way just to override it and tell it to stay in one mode rather than get stuck in a never ending oscillation of clicks. This review written at 4am while both of our monitors are down.

Let me first say this camera is amazing. The video quality is superb, even when viewing from the cloud. We have loved and recommended Lollipop to almost every new parent we know as it gives a sense of security to be able to see our children at any time or place and especially when they are sleeping at grandma’s house. NOW: the app to view the camera is constantly changing and not usually for the better. I understand needing to fix bugs and glitches but to change the entire appearance and functionality of the app gets old after a while. The latest update made having it open on my nightstand and sleeping nearly impossible because of how bright the screen is. With my older iPad, which doesn’t have the dark theme as newer Apple products do, the empty space on the viewing screen is white and it displays VERY small images that are difficult to see in the new version. They must bring back multi-view function, make the video images higher and deal with the background color surrounding the images in order to get my final vote. As it is now, I’m considering other cameras as sleep with two under two is essential. Give the old version back or RIP to my Lollipop cameras (yes I have two that I will give up if these issues aren’t fixed).

I have had this baby monitor since my daughter was born in August 2018. I loved how stylish it was and initially, it worked beautifully, allowing me to watch my baby whenever & wherever I wanted (even when I worked night shift). The picture quality was great, the app was typically a breeze to use, and I loved the event recording feature. I even had people asking me what camera I used after seeing some of the screenshots I shared. However, in the past couple of weeks something has changed. My WiFi is the same. The camera has not changed locations in my home. All of a sudden, my camera is offline almost all of the time. When I am able to get the camera to connect, it lasts for maybe 2 minutes, then disconnects again & seems to take forever to reconnect, if it ever does. I am unable to see my child when she is sleeping and this is affecting my sleep as it happens all night long. No other WiFi connected devices in my home are having issues. I updated the firmware. I updated the app. I disconnected/reconnected the camera several times. I even removed & then added the camera again. No change. So, I decided to purchase a WiFi network extender, as that was one suggestion in the support section of the Lollipop website. It worked for a little while (like a few hours), but now I am not even able to get the camera to connect at all. My very expensive baby monitor is essentially useless now. I have emailed support.. We’ll see what they say. I’m not hopeful though, after reading other reviewers’ experiences.
