The newest iteration of the mobile application is a bit wonky. For example there is a link for transfers, but then there’s another one for transfers and payments. Meanwhile, under the Bill pay section you have to differentiate between just looking at a payee or selecting another tab and then going to the same pay to make a payment. Although not asked, when the credit union changed its website functionality And downloading transactions into Quicken for the credit cards seems to have been destroyed. I mentioned to one of the representatives from the credit union a while ago that it would’ve been helpful to have some users actually go through the beta version of all of this, that person said that people there at the credit union did and it seemed to be OK. But from the user side, there are some issues.
I’ve been a member of LAPFCU since I was about 11 and since their app update it seems that this should have just stayed in beta mode for more testing. Basically, The option to pay for your loan or credit card has a grey area, if you have an external account. I made a payment on my accounts over 2 months and it gave me a payment confirmation and everything but I was told that the account didn’t link and they needed to change something internally that notifies account holders that you cannot pay through the pay option unless it’s through quick pay. Needless to say my credit has been reported as if I didn’t make a payment. Working in tech it’s always disheartening when companies take on apps or AI and they don’t understand how it constantly needs to be audited. Of course they say they are going to let accounting know so they can fix the late payments reported, but personally I think I should just get an attorney because what do banks care? They don’t.
I love LAPFCU and have been a client for many years. The app is great for simple banking. It helps organise finances and get a great overview of my finances. My only complaint is the ability to pay my LAPFCU credit card and see the statement. It requires going through a gateway website that manages the card. Making a payment there takes days. If I pay it on this app, it still takes days to transfer over. I’d like to see a more seamless integration where I can see my transactions and make payments within the LAPFCU app.
