Dark Sky data killed it

Literally ANY research into accurate weather forecasting—and I mean, looking at genuine weather metrics for a lot of different cities around the country/world, and not just going by the app all the tech bloggers say is “accurate”—will show that Dark Sky is, on both a monthly and yearly basis, actually pretty terrible. (It does laughably poorly for my metropolitan area in particular.) Dark Sky is way, WAY off on hi and low temps, which is what I personally look to the most in a weather app; and it’s not even that correct when it comes to icon and text precipitation?? Which is Dark Sky’s entire selling point??? But it’s still not even good at its main feature! So tired of otherwise good weather apps forcing everyone to use Dark Sky because of its “super accurate hyperlocal forecasts” when any amount of historical weather data reveals how wildly inaccurate Dark Sky actually is. Would it kill any of these developers to look into whether these claims of accuracy are true or not?? BeWeather was good while it lasted, and I liked the idea of a refreshed UI, but Dark Sky’s info is terrible so... deleting now.

What happened??

This used to be the best go-to app for accurate local weather. What happened? The latest update took away the ability to pick a personal weather station. That was the whole point to choosing this app above others! Although individual stations near me (less than 1 mile away) are still listed -- and it *appears* to let you choose-- it still defaults to a regional airport that is many miles away. If fixed, I'll update/upgrade my review. UPDATE: Unassisted, the weather station started bouncing around to every other one except the one nearest me. Sometimes the readings would be zero or dashes. Having to reset several times a day, every day is becoming more frustrating. If this review would let me drop down to 1 star I would. Uninstalled.

One of the better weather apps I believe!

For the most part this is the best weather app I’ve found and used. My only complaint is the closest city I live near is Fern Prairie, Washington and this app only list Camas, Washington. Camas is a lower elevation then where I live and Fern Prairie is very close to the same elevation. Since I’m forced to use Camas the weather info is always off. Depending on the weather temps it could be off as much as saying rain down in Camas when it’s actually snowing at my home near Fern Prairie. So obviously I would be delighted to see Fern Prairie, Washington added to the city list for Washington so I can get better accurate info for where I actually live! Please add Fern Prairie, Washington!
