I've been a dedicated user of Zwift since 2016, and it's been a crucial part of my cycling routine for the past seven years, keeping my interest peaked. With a frequency of 1-3 times per week, I've explored various facets of the Zwift world - from engaging in races, leveling up gear and bikes, participating in group rides with friends, to exploring new worlds, chasing challenges, getting the tron bike, and collecting badges. It offers an array of activities like robopacer rides and solo adventures, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience. I often recommend Zwift to fellow cyclists as a safer alternative to real-life (IRL) riding, without compromising on the fun and engagement. While I still enjoy IRL rides, Zwift has been an excellent tool for preparation and training. If you're yet to try it out, I highly encourage you to do so and then, as we say in the Zwift community, 'ride on!'
I use this app whenever I’m Zwifting. It seems to always do what it’s supposed to do (as long as my WiFi isn’t acting up), but could use a few tweaks. The things I would like to see changed are (1) allow ‘mass ride ons’ to be given out to riders nearby on group rides, like you can when just riding along. When using Apple TV, especially, giving ride ons is kind of a pain, so just being able to hit your arrow on the map and hand out a few would be great; (2) please do something about the incessant pop ups to join an event for which you have signed up. We all know that Zwift races, and most events, go hard from the start, so getting in a good warm up can be key. But I don’t need to be reminded every minute (at least it feels like it) that the event is starting and checking if I’m ready to join. Maybe 30 minutes before, then 15, then 5, then 3, 2, and 1 would be ok. And there’s always the ‘Join Event’ button on the Zwift app itself that can be used if you want to join at any other point; (3) whenever choosing the ‘Zwifters’ tab in a ride/event the list should update to ALWAYS put the user in the middle of the screen (unless they are really close to the front or rear of the group, anyway). It’s frustrating to want to find info for a rider near you, to give a ride on or otherwise, and have to scroll through the list to find where you are so that you can then locate the other rider. It’s great that the user is shown in a different color, but putting them mid-screen would make things just that much more simple.
I really love the app and it is a great companion to my Apple TV Zwift app. It’s like having a hi tech remote. I especially like the new workout screen but have a couple of nit picks with it. I have a controllable trainer so I am concentrating more on cadence than power during the workouts. The cadence font is so small and nested right under the power reading that it is hard to read, especially when really working hard. Perhaps moving it to the top left of the power arc and heart rate to the top right would make it all easier to read. There is some open screen real estate In those places, especially if the power arc is just a tad smaller. Additionally, the app is super power hungry. I went from 85% to 20% in 40 minutes. Not sure how to fix this considering everything it is doing, so I now plug my phone in (which requires a wire that I don’t want around my bike!) Lastly, it loses sync about once per workout and I have to close and reopen the app. Again, I consider these minor but if they can be fixed, I would have no problem upping my rating to 5 stars.
