Detour - Immersive Audio Tours

This app gives you the freedom to pick and choose from a variety of affordable tours and start them when and where you want to, giving you the flexibility to organize your trip as you like, without worrying about if it’s a holiday (tour companies can be closed), or if it’s too late at night or if there will be spots left on a tour. This just takes all the hassle out of organizing/stressing over large group tours, and is perfect for travelers moving quickly from one place to another and with not much time to plan. The only thing i wish is that it covered more cities; but the cities it does cover, THANK YOU.

I travel in Latin America. There’s a lot of history, interesting architecture & current events that could - & SHOULD - be covered! I have service/signal unless in the jungle areas. I’d really like to have these guided tours in Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Panama, and on into South America! Since most of my travel is not covered, it’s difficult for me to give this app more stairs until it is more inclusive. The tours for the US cities are good. How about Kansas City (jazz, the 18th & Vine area, etc), Manitou Springs/Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City???? There are plenty of US cities with many interesting stories, history, architecture and such. If Latin American & more IS cities are added & well done, I’d be happy to change my rating. Great start. Now let’s see what is added for those of us not as interested in European (a large portion - though lacking (Edinburgh, Dublin, Wales, Canterbury, etc) - of the app) travel.

On my recent trip to Rome, I completed three of the Detour walking tours - on the Jewish Resistance during Nazi Occupation, Modern Italian Politics, and The Fall of Rome. I enjoyed each of these immensely, and appreciated how they showed a side of Rome, it's ancient and contemporary history, that I wouldn't otherwise get to experience and learn about as a tourist. I love how the tours are narrated by a person who was present and significant for the period (even if played by an actor), the sound design and how immersive it made the walks, and how the walks took me to places, and made me notice things I would have missed otherwise. Looking forward to checking out some others of these tours closer to home.
