So I got this game in 7th grade. 6 years later and Iโm in college and still play this game at least once a week. I cannot recommend how good this game is and how much it is worth the money. The story is great, the gameplay is great, and the music is great. Given that Iโve played as long as I did (with some breaks here and there) you would think Iโve ran out of content, but there are still challenging songs and songs that I can barely even pass. And because there are so many good songs there are always 6-7 good songs that are perfectly within your difficulty. As far as other rhythm games (Cytus I/II, Phigros, Arcaea) itโs this one I always come back to. Cytus I is ridiculously unforgiving. Cytus II is rediculously forgiving. Phigros is fun but all the challenging maps are gimmicky and if you play them enough youโll eventually get a score if you want. Arcaea is impossible to play at high difficulty on phone. Deemo, however, is different. Difficult maps feel possible on phone, and thereโs no better feeling than getting a score youโre happy with. So please. Buy the game AND the Forgotten Hourglass. It literally triples the games content. Best purchase Iโve ever made in my live no exaggeration.
If I had to sum up this game, if you can call it that, in a word, that would be it. This game has stuck with me for 6 years. To begin, this game was a simple story about a girl and a shadowy figure learning about the secrets of a piano and the tree it seemed to grow. Upon reaching the maximum height (15m I believe, back then) the credits would roll. It was almost all environmental storytelling and there were few cutscenes. Even still, the visuals and implied story hit hard and left me wanting more. So when I saw that the story had been extended I lost it. I started over and witnessed all of the cutscenes and the amazing heart wrenching story of Deemoโs true nature. Every song has a meaning, a purpose, and a story and the songs you play change your own view of the story. Added with the forgotten hourglass and you have the formula for infinite replay ability and an ever increasing library of brilliant scores. If you like or love rhythm games, this is for you. If you like or love great stories, this is for you. If you like or love rhythm games and great stories, this is a must have. This game will stick with you through thick and thin and always have something to suit your mood, sad, happy, mellow, excited, or even angry scores are available to you. Youโll gather a repertoire of brilliant artists to follow outside of the game. And hell, maybe this game will change the way you view yourself, like it did for me. So thank you, Rayark, for publishing this story. And thank you, Hanz.
So, I actually started playing this game even before the full thing had released after a friend had recommended it to me (the game originally ended right after you grow the tree to its fullest height). And that was I think about 5 and a half years ago now. And I can not tell you enough that this game is absolutely incredible, and not a money waster. Deemo is a true masterpiece among games. The visuals are stunning, the music is gorgeous, and the story is beautifully written. The story progression is so well done, as you slowly unravel the mystery of the world you have found yourself in (the ending is going to leave you a changed person. And no, that is not an over statement), all while you get to play beautiful scores that feel like people put real heart into them. And there is so much free content, let alone all of the albums you can buy. Each piano piece you play comes with wonderfully drawn art. I guess you could call it the music cover art? And GOOD LORD just the game itself is a ton of fun to play. So, even if you donโt care about story in anyway shape or form, if like or love rhythm games, BUY THIS THING. Thanks for reading, if you got this far, and I really do hope you get this game. You will not regret it. Trust me.
