VoiceInk: AI Dictation

This is an awesome app and while the developer might be a small shop provided excellent customer service when I needed it. This is tool I highly recommend it. I'm doing a lot less typing and a lot more talking and it actually works well. Apple dictation I struggled with for years, and I still struggle with it -- just nowhere near as accurate as VoiceInk. I also compared it to whisper flow and whisper flow is fine, it works but it's a lot more money and it's all cloud based this app respect your privacy ; highly recommended

This dictation app is pretty nice, and I think it's better than several competing apps that require a subscription. I believe this approach is ideal because the local model for transcription is already quite powerful. However, I still have three concerns or suggestions. First, there needs to be more local models. The current local model, Parakeet, doesn't seem to work well for multi-language use. Although it's supposed to, it performed poorly for my specific use case, so I hope to see additional local models. Second, it currently shows a percentage usage of its default local model, but the total quota for that isn't clear. Hopefully, this can be clarified. Third, the default local model offers a language selection option. However, the other local model, Parakeet, does not allow me to select the language. Most of the time, it detects the wrong language, which also prevents the corresponding enhancement using an external API key from working. In fact, this entire review was written using this app, which already suggests its high accuracy and quality.

Bro, this app is way too buggy. The voice recognition doesn't work as well as the one on macOS (it's pretty much a disaster actually and it always convert to english any language even when modifying the enhancement prompts). You don't have enough options to use the app correctly, for instance, Google Gemini 2.0 flash lite API. Also allow to install whisper (the biggest one) - apple won't restrict this download). I don't know why you made these choices... The custom prompts are not equal to the ones that you're using on macOS and even when modified, they don't work as well. Again, I don't know why. I will change 3 stars to 5 stars as soon as you make sure that the iOS app is equal to the macOS app which is soooo good. In the meantime, get back to work, and I'm sure you can upload a new version on the App Store very shortly. Keep up with the good work 💪💪💪
