Honestly, I wasn’t sure if this was going to be worth it. I had heard the feedback on Dr John’s podcast. I had heard his excitement about it. I just wasn’t sure if it could help the overwhelming emotion and trust issues my marriage was facing. I had never expected my marriage to face such hardships and was lost as to how to take a step in a positive direction. This was a game changer. It’s helping me see my husband as the person on my team raising our littles. It’s helping me find ways to reconnect emotionally, mentally, and physically with him. Whether you want creative ways to love your spouse or need a path forward when hardships shake the foundation you thought was solid, this app is a fantastic tool. I especially have found benefit in the notes and reflection areas to call myself out and develop the self-awareness to stop bad thoughts in their tracks. Thank you Dr. John for this awesome app!

Look, the average couple doesn’t need Dr. John Delony slapping a $5.99/month paywall on basic daily prompts and conversation starters. This app is just repackaged “show up small” advice—stuff that’s already free everywhere else—locked behind a subscription meter because Lampo can’t resist nickel-and-diming folks who are trying to fix their marriages. Why pay for recycled questions and half-baked weekly rundowns when the Gottman Card Decks app gives you over 1,000 research-backed flashcards, intimacy builders, date ideas, and deep conversation prompts completely free? No ads, no subs, no “premium” upsell nonsense. It’s from actual relationship scientists who’ve studied thousands of couples, not a media personality turning his persona into a recurring revenue stream. This feels like classic Ramsey-esque grift: promise transformation in tiny daily moments, then charge you monthly for what should be common-sense tools anyone can access without forking over latte money every month. One spouse using it? Great gimmick, but still not worth the ongoing ding to your wallet when free alternatives accomplish the exact same thing—better, with no limits. Save your cash. Delete this and grab Gottman Card Decks instead. Your marriage deserves real help, not another meter on someone’s brand. If you’re reading this before downloading—don’t waste your time or money. There are better (and free) ways to reconnect without funding the next Ramsey empire expansion.

Honestly, there’s a lot good with the app. My wife and I have been using it a while now and have enjoyed it. Lots of good prompts and ideas and we have had some good conversations. However, for a couples app it seems absolutely silly that it is not integrated more. On the weekly rundowns it seems dumb that we have to put our wants and needs into each other’s phones, why can’t we do that on our own and it populate on the other users end. Also, why can’t we see what each other wrote about for the daily activities. It also doesn’t seem to truly take into account the other users daily activities because we have had repeat ones (my wife had a conversation starter 3 days after I did with the same prompts) that seems like an easy fix. I know that not everyone is also into AI, but this seems like a place where it could be added to take the inputs and suggest more ideas. Finally, I think there should be more activities at least 1 for a 365 day year. Right now there are about half that many. It’s okay, but since it’s a paid app I expect more.
