The Free Press has helped provide me with the calming sense that there is still sane and competent truth seekers in an increasingly polarized and silly news and information landscape. As someone who has found themselves increasingly disenfranchised from left leaning politics and reporting, I’m happy to have found a place that confirms that perhaps I’m not “racist, fascist, and xenophobic.” That’s not to harp on the left exclusively, I assure you I’m equally and historically horrified by many of the concerning narratives and, in my opinion, over-reaching policies that have come out of right-wing reporting and politics. The Free Press was incredibly helpful in the lead up to the 2024 election, with offerings such as “republicans who plan to vote for Kamala,” followed by “democrats who plan to vote for Trump,” followed by a debate between Sam Harris and Ben Shapiro. The wide variety of level headed writing, reporting, and debates, hosted by Bari and her all-star cast and crew give me faith that perhaps we will soon turn a corner and return to some semblance of a shared American identity that we can celebrate together, while still disagreeing about how to best move forward as a united people in liberty and justice. Love all of you! Keep up the great work!
The Free Press app, certainly had grand changes from original publications and most of it, I like however a few I didn’t, but I held back reviewing right away as change requires time to get familiar. Sometimes things you don’t like you end up liking. After months of using the app, I still find the placement of article links within articles very annoying. I’d like to be able to read through an article without being distracted by a link. I’d like to read a article and not think I’m at the end when I’m not and have to figure out oh it’s another link. It still happens to me every time I read an article even though I’ve tried for months to get used to this feature. It slows my reading down and I can’t even get as many articles read that I’d like to because of this. I wonder if this bothers others? I like that you refer to articles, but can’t you just put them at the end of an article for the people that want that? I prefer a dark background over white. White seems so glaring, a thicker or bolder font would help to read on the white background. Other than that feedback I like how it’s organized and have learned how to easily find things I want to read .
The Free Press has be a revelation over the past few years….. at a time where the MSM has lost the plot and social media is a sesspool, The Free Press brought together a ragtag bunch of smart and decent folks who could still think critically and speak to each other (and us) like adults across the political and social spectrum. You won’t agree with every article and that’s a good thing….. No red/blue pills or algorithm instigated rabbit holes leading to indoctrination, just smart, well written, easy to digest articles produced by actual journalists and experts. All that was missing was an app to deliver these fried slices of gold in the manner to which we’ve become acustomed.
