Nearly didn’t bother trying this because of the reviews but wanted the savings rate. Set up the account in about 10 mins with no problems and initial deposit in there 24 hours later. So far so good

There was issues at launch but the app has come a long way with a few updates and issues fixed promptly. A very competitive 6% rate has led to a lot of unfair reviews I feel as the demand was much greater than they expected. Once you get in it works great and as I’ve been a member for a while it’s nice to see a local org invest in tech. It’s just going to get better.

Received an email from Monmouthshire Building Society suggesting I use the app to open its Regular Saver account, as it would be quicker than waiting for the application I’d submitted on their website. App keeps freezing on a particular section and it says ifs checking my details but it clearly is not. They’ve released this without resting it properly, at the same time as launching a top rate account which has been promoted in the press. Not impressed and perhaps the society should have spent the cash they’ve used on the app into making its website open accounts and do the necessary checks, like those of other building societies do!
