I drove over 700 miles this week, through 4 states twice. I had a 92 as of Saturday morning and was feeling pretty proud of myself. Then Saturday night hits and I get a ride home from the local watering hole as a responsible person does. Unfortunately my priorities at that time, 11:45 pm on a Saturday night, were not oh gosh I better tell road club within the next 15 minutes about my .5 mile Uber ride. And boom, I wake up to an 89 and no reward for the week. I couldn’t help but laugh. Of course their week ends after Saturday nights. Of course there’s no buffer time to indicate you weren’t the driver. Of course a 3 minute trip effects you 3 full points and essentially cancels out the multiple 5 hour drives. There’s just too many things here working against you that are honestly just so obvious. Oh and Sunday morning when you are alerted of your failure, you can’t see last weeks (and last night’s) trips anymore! What was my Uber drivers score?! What on earth did he do in those 3 minutes. MY GOSH. Way too many 89s here guys! Be fair!
I’m a little shocked at the negative reviews here. The app is for sure not picky. I live in Houston and work in downtown which has lots of traffic. I also have over a 50 mile round trip commute. I’ve had the app for 3 weeks and only 2 of my 50ish trips have been less than a 100 score. Do I think I’m a really good of a driver? For sure not. The app does make you leave more space to make sure you don’t break hard, but isn’t the point to help you drive safer? Ive never been tagged for speeding even though Ive definitely driven over. I think if you stay around the same speed as cars around you you’re fine. The driving distracted section is common sense. Jut don’t look at your phone. It would be nice to have a “pause” button for if you are the passenger or on vacation taking Ubers. That way you don’t get dinged and they know you’re not gaming the system. But honestly it’s been nothing but easy money so far.
So I’ve been using RoadClub for a little bit now and have claimed around $20 or so but the only reason it doesn’t get a 5 star is because when you go to claim the reward, you have to re-enter your information again and if you somehow manage to fat finger anything like I apparently did on my last $10 reward, there is no way to see what you entered or to correct it. In my opinion, you signed up with your information and why not just populate it into the areas when you claim the reward so this doesn’t happen. Right now I have $10 that I can’t use on a prepaid that I’m not sure who I have to contact in order to get this corrected so I can use it for gas which I’ve been doing for these. Any suggestions from the company would be great at this time. Otherwise, the app is a good way to make a few bucks over time to save up for holiday shopping.
