I purchased a lifetime license for ironGAINS after testing about 15 workout trackers. I recently started a new training program (Steve Shaw's Massive Iron), which requires knowing your last workout's weights & reps. ironGAINS shows that information right beside each set of your current workout (exactly what I was looking for). I also like that you can indicate which sets are warm-up or failure sets. But the feature that really stands out for me is the brilliant "rep schemes." This makes setting up workouts a breeze and allows you to change the reps & sets of an exercise with the click of a button. ironGAINS comes with predefined rep schemes, or you can define your own schemes as well. ironGAINS is the only app I know of to have this feature. Kudos to the developer! And speaking of the developer, Arnas is quick to respond to questions and open to suggestions. His passion for making ironGAINS the best it can be clearly shows. Thank you, Arnas, for make such a great workout tracker!
I’ve been using ironGAINS for a while now and have always liked it, but had a few misgivings about version 2. Almost all of them have been addressed in the version 3. It is much easier to create new exercises and the ability to create and apply rep schemes is amazing... saves so much time. Adding exercises on the fly during a workout is also now much easier and doing so doesn’t change the saved version of the workout - this gives me lots of flexibility in the gym. I also love the addition of tracking weight per side for things like dumbbell exercises. The color and layout changes took a bit of getting used to, but I’ve grown to like them. Supersets are a bit odd and I preferred the way they were stacked in version 2, but I’ve adapted to the change. The same can be said for the rest timer sound - it’s a bit grating to my ears, but, I’ve gotten used to it. There are still a few minor glitches here and there, but nothing that is so glaring as to take away from the overall experience. I highly recommend this app!!
I’ve been using IronGAINS for a long time now and it’s changed for the better over the years. The developer is constantly improving the app and isn’t afraid to re-write it completely to make it better. In addition the developer is very responsive and open to suggestions. I love the app because it doesn’t hinder you during your workouts. It’s easy to use and is very flexible. Now with version 3.0 we can go back and correct any mistake you make while in the gym. You can always correct it later. You can copy routines from the history, add custom exercises and edit them later. You can look at your progress charts to see how you’ve done with each exercise by itself. You have different types of exercises from reps only to weight per side or machines. Like I said it’s very flexible and it won’t hinder your workout. It’s quick and to the point in between your rep sets. Get it and get the full lifetime license. You won’t be disappointed.
