Reviews: What People Think About Strongur: The Best Workout Log

They added a much more in depth workout plan that is geared towards a six day a week workout plan. I liked the phase plans because it gave flexibility for people who only worked out 3-4 times a week. The new multi year phases took that option away. It's geared for a Monday Tuesday Wednesday etc plan. It doesn't say what to do if you miss a day of workouts. The new plan seems like it really focuses on a lot of different movements and includes cardio. Wide grip, close grip, side movements etc. Not sure if these plans will increase strength as it seems more to physical appearance. The plan also divides some exercises into left and right side but doesn't distinguish how many reps for which side. Finally there is no countdown clock for when you should start your next lift. The only timer is the one that says how long you've had the workout open, not how long it has been between your sets. Which is a huge annoyance for me

Overall the app is fantastic. If you accurately set up your workouts it will automatically push you to progressive overload and it won’t let you just stay content with present levels. The graphs are great for monitoring progress, though it would be nice to have body measurement tracking included. It also has the only fitness watch app I’ve experienced that isn’t a nightmare to operate or doesn’t constantly crash. Unfortunately the app on a 38mm Apple Watch series 2 has an issue with text size. Despite trying to change text size through the watch app, the text in the scrollers is too wide when you get up into the 200 lbs range and turns into things like “2...” Honestly even with this annoyance, I still would rather use this app than any of the others out there. I just end up scrolling to a number that ends in 1, then count up or down to the weight I need. Irritating, but only relevant on the compound exercises, and way less irritating than constant crashing or a complicated watch interface that other apps have.

I use Gymaholic on a regular basis. I love how this app adds creativity in changing sets and reps. But for someone who uses an Apple Watch, I’d really like for this app to track my heart rate etc. I think that would give a more accurate count of calorie burn. Additionally, I’d like this app to track the calorie burn so that it adds to my daily count. I think this app has huge promise, but until they add the Apple Watch support, I’ll leave my rating at 4 stars.

Realistic targets keep you on track. Statistical analysis has shown that a beginner can expect a strength gain of about 30% in the first 90 days. Additional gains in strength are gradual and due to an interplay between neuromuscular improvements and hypertrophy. A 5'9" (1.75m) man can expect to gain about 15 lb (7kg) of muscle in the first year. Expect 3-5 years to reach your natural maximum.

These are your targets. Feel free to smash through them.
