Neko Atsume 2

This is the perfect game. You don’t need to spend hours (nor should you) perfecting your lawn, anyone can save for the items the really want without NEEDING to purchase the premium. Anyone who can spend the dollar most definitely should, but those who can’t aren’t missing the BEST got critical gameplay. All things perfectly balanced. I love visiting partner’s and friends’ yards, though I wish what cats we saw at their yard was the same as their screen. I love completing my album of cats as well as purchasing the rotating store of lawn decor. I also loved having my IRL cat in-game when I could spend the dollar on premium. As a whole this game is my absolute favorite app. As an animal lover, the dog representation it top-tier. The animation style? Peak. The cat diversity? Ginormous. Hotel? Trivago. From the broke college student, thank you for the perfect game.

I was excited to learn that Neko Atsume was releasing a second game after so many years, especially after doing just about everything possible in the original version! I’ve always found the series to be charming and nowadays I check my yard every couple of hours just to see what silly little critters have decided to visit me. Friends and I have made a game of “shaming” the cats that only give 1 silver fish per visit (haha!). I’m enjoying that more goodies (especially ones I remember from the original game) are gradually being introduced, and I’m also admittedly enjoying the subscription feature. The tiers are fairly inexpensive and you can have custom cats dependent on which level tier you have! I have two Mynekos, myself, which are both based off of my cats that passed away earlier this year. It warms my heart to see silly cartoon versions of them playing with toys or napping on beds. I also enjoy the little Helper you get, who helps you set out snacks for cats when you’re too busy to check your phone to refill food dishes. All-in-all, I’m very satisfied with the game and continue to look forward to whatever feature they may share with us next, be they goodies or special kitties!

There is a bug in the cat book. It’s not bad, just after I click on a specific cat to look at their “profile” if I click their album, and then “X” to go back to the profile and then “X” to go back to the book, the screen goes blank. Not blank exactly, the background stays and the music keeps playing, and the top right corner options are there, but other than that it’s “blank” there is no way to get back to the yard. I have to leave the app in order to “reset” it, but it happens every time. And that sometimes changes the cats in my yard, so I have to make sure I take any photos I want right away because they might not be there when I reopen the app. I’ve looked around the cat book and other albums, and it only happens in this one spot. Does anyone else have this issue? It’s not a huge deal, I just won’t access their album from the cat book, but if the option is there, it should work. I do love this app! It’s so fun and the art is cute. I love that you can “collect” cats and get the photos. I had the first version and loved it. I hope I’m gonna love this one just as much!
