As a landscape architect, I was excited to try VoiceNotes as a tool to document on-the-go conversations with clients while walking their property. The concept is fantastic—being able to record project goals, ideas, and discussions in real-time without having to stop and write things down felt like a major upgrade to my workflow. In more static environments—like office meetings or Zoom calls in front of a computer—the app actually works well. The transcription and voice detection are solid. But out in the field, where I really needed it, it has proven unreliable. The app has now stopped recording mid-session multiple times without warning, and I’m left with incomplete files—just a few seconds of audio—and absolutely no way to recover what was said. I’m certain I pressed record, and it showed it was recording, but at some point it just stopped. I wonder if the AI is trying to “guess” when a meeting is over based on motion or sound levels, and maybe when I’m walking or shifting around during a site visit, it thinks I’m done. If that’s the case, it’s a serious flaw—and for a paid app, this kind of unpredictable behavior just isn’t acceptable. This app has real potential, but for professionals who need reliable field recordings, it’s not there yet. I hope the developers can address this logic—maybe add persistent visual recording indicators, a lock feature, or even a prompt before stopping the session. Until then, I can’t recommend it for active, mobile use.
having used it just one day I bought the lifetime account, it's just that good already - it dictates nearly flawlessly, it contextually relates notes (if you click on any note title, it shows possible notes that could correlate to the topic), it keeps the audio recording for reference, it works well on various devices and through a browser as a website. Epic, for only three weeks since release! What is lacking at this time: 1. voice responses and recorded voice responses 2. option to type notes instead of dictating (good for when wanting to note something down but in a quiet environment) 3. does not have two differentiated options between constructing a response strictly from only personal notes and responses vs from GPT training or internet knowledge base (both as a selection would be super helpful to be able to specify, for example sometimes it says there's nothing to say because there is no information regarding the question contained in the notes, and sometimes gives a perfect response from outside sources which do answer the question but not from personal notes) 4. asking more specific questions is not easy to get to and for some reason the "ask" button does not do it but sends you to a different screen with its own history which is hard to navigate and does not get saved as other responses do 5. playback using speaker (currently uses the iPhone earpiece) 6. better organization by conversation and topic (tags do help but not robust enough, maybe nested tags would be helpful) 7. theme options, especially just a good dark mode
It’s the AI assistant I’ve always wanted! I’ve been waiting for an app like this for years and it has changed my life! It transcribes your audio notes perfectly (even long ones) and does it fast! It stores all of your notes into a giant log and then you can ask questions about your notes which the AI has access to or you can ask the AI to summarize your notes or turn them into a Tweet or blog post etc. It uses Chat GPT 4 Turbo so the answers are natural, well-thought out, and professional. Use this app as a diary, to take notes, record stray thoughts, record your projects, record your memories, write reminders to yourself, give yourself ideas, critiques, guidance, or scheduling with the help of your always faithful AI assistant, or all of these things and more! This app can do it all!
