Photoscope: Best Photo Picker

In principle, this app brings back a functionality of the wonderful Aperture app that allowed you to compare similar photos and intelligently select which one to keep from a batch. Unfortunately, as it is currently implemented, it really does not match my needs for this process. The current workflow is just to move from one picture to the next and select when you find one you think you like more. But for this functionality to be useful, I really need to be able to go back-and-forth and compare any two arbitrary pictures to one another rather than just flick through everything once and be done. Also, the idea of keeping just one out of the set isn’t very helpful. I think if this used the film strip more interactively and allowed you to select pics and comparisons directly from it, then it might start to be really useful. Also, I think it very much needs to have a built-in assumption that you may choose to keep any number of pictures from the sequence, not just one

I use a mirrorless camera and will sometimes take a *few* too many photos at the same time, often trying to capture just the right shot. I’ve looked all over for an app that directly integrates with my Photos Library and allows me to pick the best photo(s) from a bunch. This app does the job really well, and I am excited to see how the app gets even better with further development. Mac and iPad apps would be amazing; I hope they are on the road map!

I have been taking thousands of photos for years. My friends and family have always complained that I never share them. Well, 75% of them are awful and I have had the intention that one day, I’d go through them, make albums and ‘clean’ out the duplicates, blurry and poorly lit images. I never had. Photoscope is changing that! I have started with a trip I took 10 years ago with my elderly parents. It’s ten years later, but this Mother’s Day, my mom is going to get to relive some precious memories. Thank you, Photoscope!
