CubeStation NEW

.. got it to work at the end. I got the GAN Robot v.2 (Arthur) and the GAN 12ui MagLev smart cube and they work great together. The app would not recognize any of the solved algos until i set it to Yellow Top / Green Front. Then the timer worked (and only works on that setting). That was a major frustration, contacted support, no answer yet, figured it out by accident, now it works. Then my timers were working fine but suddenly stopped recording times on my iPad (on my iPhone still works fine). Overall the app has some bugs but the fact that the robot can give you a scramble (and the same exact one to a friend) is great. Also the Phase Training is extremely helpful and it works (but only in the orientation mentioned before or the timer won’t stop). I hope they fix these bugs because the robot is cool and the 12ui MagLev cube almost as good as the 16max MagLev.

The new format is nice, but a lot of things were taken away from the original version, including the chats, friend chats, and algorithm trainers. You can’t even make custom algorithms anymore, or even practice algorithms at all. Also, you can’t even have a pfp anymore without giving CubeStation access to all of your photos. Translating is ok, but the popups are all in Chinese and impossible to read. Anyways, overall it’s ok, but why make a completely new app?

The training section is all I ever used and it took a huge step backwards in the v5 update. 1) Lost all my data from 2,000 previous solves before the update. 2) The main point of having a smart cube with a gyroscope is being able to see the cube move on the screen. In v4 the cube was the focus on the screen in training mode, in v5 the scramble pattern and timer take up the whole screen and the cube is literally a tiny 1/4” afterthought at the bottom of the screen that you can barely see AND the cube is only shown during the scramble. 3) Can no longer disable the 15 second inspection timer. I’m never going to compete, so the timer just pisses me off. 4) Can no longer see the cube on screen during a solve, only the timer is shown once the scramble is complete. This defeats the whole point of a smart cube. 5) Can no longer delete solves like DNF’s or other “bad” times where you got distracted, had to stop a solve to answer the phone/text, etc. Makes zero sense to me how a software engineer or coder can remove functionality, move some data/text boxes around and call it an upgrade/update.
