After two days I signed up for the Premium membership and I discovered a ton of additional great tools. No, I am not a salesman. I have tried to learn the piano on and off for about 40 years. This app caught my attention right away. I have a MIDI piano and this app gives me choices like assessments and their SARS ( or something like that, I just click on it đ). I can challenge myself, learn whenever I have a minute and get judged by a computer who does a pretty accurate job ( first time I accept criticism and I am a ship captain). Finally someone took advantage of the technical possibilities of the internet to teach others! That in itself is worth a 5 stars rating. You just drudge along with the curriculum, pick some additional stuff out of the library and learning piano turns finally into FUN! To take full advantage of this app you should be an independent person who doesnât need 100% guidance or others to tell you what to do. If you can make your own choices you will love this app!

If it werenât for the videos, I would rate this app a five stars. Unfortunately, whenever I am confused and need help, I look at the videos and every single one, for every single lesson, are like 12 minutes. I donât not have time fore this. The answer I am looking for takes 15 seconds to give me. This guy, for every single video, will give his ENTIRE life story, DETAILED opinions, and only after like 8 minutes will remotely approach the point. I remember a few years ago, when I first discovered this app, the videos were different, concise, and straight to the point. That was amazing. Now, I have to sit through and watch as this guy does dramatic explorations of previous lessons and knowledge that NOBODY NEEDS. Literally, my question is what a random dot on the music means, and I will not get it before he explains what a C note is. Like I already knew that. Or, at the beginning of every video he will explain what lesson we are in. I ALREADY KNEW THAT. I am ACTIVELY trying to the lesson, I DO NOT need you to tell me. It is impossible to watch these videos. He talks, and talks, and talks. By this point I prefer not to get an answer than use the videos. Please re-film them with someone else or put the old ones back. I cannot watch them. I really want to continue using this app because I think itâs great, but I donât have time to watch 12 minute videos every time I have a tiny question.

First off let get the obvious out of the way. No app as of yet is going to make you a virtuoso pianist. Music has too many nuances for that. On the other hand lessons from a teacher can be expensive and a lot of the early basics can easily be learned on ones on so that when the time for a tutor arises you can get on to the more technical aspects of piano right away; thatâs where Piano Marvel comes in. It can definitely get a beginner up to speed with things such as rhythm, sight reading, fingering, etc. Particularly beneficial is its rating system which gives you a good indication of exactly what you know and where youâre at. I like that itâs not gamified to the extent that an intermediate, advanced, or serious piano student wonât be put off, but does have that competitive angle that motivates some learners to achieve their best. All in all a very good app worth the money.
