Right off the bat, you notice that itโs a battle bots themed game. You start with putting together a robot by using different parts you unlock in a variety of ways. Then, you pit your machine against robots that have been created by other people all around the world that are about your level. Eventually youโll start to notice that your opponents are able to do things to your bot that you canโt, such as ramming into you at high speeds, stun you, summon explosive helpers, and even become invincible for a few seconds. How do they do this? The answer is skill cards. Skill cards completely ruin the game by giving players an extremely unfair advantage over players who just want to win fair and square. The final reason why I gave this game a three out of five is because the controls are stupidly simple, and players canโt change the controls. Ideally, newer players would have the option to use the current controls and more experienced players would be able to have more control over the weapon(s) on their bot. I do not recommend downloading this game, despite the fact that it is free. Many of the adds are forced or interactive adds full of tricks designed to make you accidentally download the app being advertised. The game certainly isnโt kid friendly because of this. You can easily have just as much, if not more, fun by building LEGO and CIRCUIT CUBE battle bots and having them fight in a cardboard box.
Ruthless robot combat and fun, engaging reward systems provide much fun in such a simple game format for Pocket Bots: Battle Robots. In Pocket Bots, the battle controls are stupidly simple: literally just a joystick. Thatโs even simpler than the Atariโs joystick controller! Also, the gameโs mechanics and format are very user-friendly and easy to navigate. Everything has a clear label, kinda like Rae Dunn furniture and appliances! On top of that, some of our analyzers here at Apple Game Review Center are fans of the popular TV series this game is based off of: Battle Bots. The game also has engaging rewards mechanics, using a system called gacha after the fashion dress-up game Gacha Life. The idea is to get loot boxes, and slowly open only one at a time to get rewards. You may also lose rewards if your box limit is full! To put it simply, Pocket Bots has simple game controls that are user-friendly and also has engaging features to keep you hooked on the fun of the game. It also incorporates elements from the TV show Battle Bots for a super enjoyable game experience. -Apple Game Review Center
One of my new favorite mobile games, although it has a few issues. I love the variety of customizations offered and the game play is simple yet fun. There are a few robots inspired from the show, and I like how we can use them in battles after defeating them. That aside, there are a few issues that I have:1. Occasionally, thereโs a bug where the rewards screen wonโt load after completing a fight. This is exclusively in the 1v1 matches. 2. The lifter, grabbers, hammers, axes, shooting and other non-spinning weapons can be frustrating to use. They just fire off every few seconds, usually immediately after the opponent gets out of range. A trigger or other control would make these much more competitive and fun to use. 3. In some arenas, robots can be thrown on top of walls, just out of reach of you, regardless of what weapon you have. Itโs frustrating to sit there and wait for the count out. When Iโve been thrown on the wall, my bot canโt move, so even if I wanted to hop down and keep fighting, I canโt. Having taller or thinner walls would help reduce those occurrences. 4. Not a criticism, but more off a suggestion: but offer players the ability to friend and fight each other. I think itโd be incredibly fun to be able to challenge my friends to a tournament.5. Another suggestion, but Iโd like to revisit boss fights.Despite those bugs and criticisms, I do love this game. Iโll keep playing it, and Iโm excited to see how the game expands from here.
