I always feel like I’m punished for my choice of phone. This is the newest SE and I keep it up to date. So with that said, even with being in line with other recent models, still getting updates for the OS and all apps, this app runs terribly. I click. I wait. Click too soon a second time? I am now on a different menu I didn’t intend to click. Another issue, and this is more on the user interface, it should not be so easy to accidentally drag the slider and end up in another part of the book. If I accidentally click and bring up the menu on the book I’m reading, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bumped that slider that shows progress and end up ten chapters elsewhere. I used to take a screenshot every night just in case I scrolled away from my current page. I hope that could be tweaked with a future update. Otherwise, I’m grateful for the app. My college library has partnered with Boundless, so there’s a ton more audiobooks and ebooks that I can read on my phone. Fiction, nonfiction, even industry exam and tech books/textbooks that will be very helpful going into IT!
I used to like it a lot more now it takes a really long time to load and then an even longer time to open my profile -I’ve read the Help and it says that you can download the book and read it even if you’re off-line, but that has never worked for me I go to launch a book that I’ve subscribed to that I don’t have taken out checked out. Downloaded it still have to launch the Program wait for it to load which can take 30 to 2 minutes and then I have to get to my member. Takes a minute and a minute and a half, and then I can click on the book in my library in and then the book may start, but it does not seem like they fixed any of the bugs. I don’t understand off-line where I can read something cause that’s never worked for me. Just seems to be very slow and not optimized for users. I don’t know what it’s optimized for it, but it certainly is a seamless and you know powerfully useful implementation of what they’re trying to do I’m on iOS on the latest version and I’m on the latest version of this app but I really wish I could just download the books and listen to them on like any other app in the world because this is just torture
This app has a lot of hate reviews, and honestly, I don’t get it. Does it freeze? Yes. Is it slightly aggravating? Yes. Do I still not get why there are profiles? Yes. But does it have tons of books, for a way shorter wait than apps like Libby? YES. I love Libby, but having this app? Suddenly, I have so many books at my fingertips! My favorite part about it is that you can download the books to read offline. So helpful on road trips and in places with bad service/internet. My main issue is the freezes. I am waiting to open my library screen? Freeze! Waiting for my profile to load? Freeze! (I’m feeling kind of like a book obsessed penguin, guys.) I also do not like the way the margined of the page are so big, but I can deal with it. But overall, the app is wonderful, easy to use, and just a great addition to your app library on your phone! (I can’t believe more people don’t use this app!)
