ScotRail Tap and Pay

This new app is certainly not user friendly. It has taken ages to get to grips with it on my mobile phone. I’ve now uploaded it to my iPad and I can’t get it to recognise the password I’ve already set up! What a disaster! I normally buy my tickets on the iPad but use the e-ticket version on my phone! It doesn’t seem to work now! I also tried to buy the bus ticket as well as my ticket and couldn’t buy them as an e-ticket, but no explanation why!! This app has been released earlier than it should !! Get it fixed !

It’s mostly good but still feels like a work in progress. It’s not easy to know which stations are in scope and which are not (as it the payment system is not yet fully rolled out). It is unclear what split ticketing is applied. If A-B is peak and B-C off-peak is it necessary to tap out at B and tap in again? It is probably not valid on GNER or CrossCountry (even though paper tickets are) but again this is not clear within the app.

No Apple Pay integration. Poor support for railcards. Seems to require constant location access. ScotRail should just accept contactless cards at stations, like TfL and the entire country of the Netherlands.
