I want to apologize for this review. My daughter plays this at her school for chess team practice. Her school had too many students sign up for the team so, after two weeks of after school practice and two mini tournaments, they told us parents that in order to compete in the district competition they would have to choose only 10 students to remain on the team and cut the rest of them. They also said they would make the decision based on the tournament results AS WELL as the amount of time each student had used ChessKid to practice (at school and at home). This info was shared the day she wrote this review. And because she was not practicing enough and had to spend a nice chunk of her Sunday playing ChessKid (so she would have a better chance of staying on the team), she wrote a rude review. She willingly chose to practice that day, btw. She begged to join the team in the first place. So I know she enjoys playing ChessKid, but only when she wants to. I apologize for her nasty attitude and have changed the star count. This is an excellent app, and Iām sorry about herā¦ 5āļø

I really enjoy using ChessKid to teach my child how to play chess. The website version is fantastic, especially with its Chinese language option and dubbed tutorial videos, which make it very accessible for non-English-speaking users. However, I noticed that the iOS app lacks Chinese language support, which creates a disconnect between the web and app experiences. Adding Chinese language support to the iOS app would greatly improve the user experience for families like mine. It would ensure consistency across platforms and make it easier for children to learn independently. The Chinese-dubbed videos on the website are excellent, and having the same feature in the app would be incredibly helpful. Thank you for considering this suggestion! I believe this update would make ChessKid even more inclusive and user-friendly for a global audience.

I am a 41 yr-old woman who has wanted to learn chess her entire life. I would always watch others play enviously. Iāve downloaded SO many other āteachingā apps, & w/each one I felt worse & worse. I felt so stupid bc I just could not get the hang of the gameā¦until I tried this one. This app may be geared towards children, but it does an amazing job at breaking things down in steps, then gradually immersing you in the game, so much so that you REALLY start to understand the gameplay. I thought I was doomed bc Iām terrible at math & stategy, but the coaching system gives you hints so that you truly start to get the hang of movement. I just won my FIRST EVER game & I actually screamed in triumph ššš
I ā¤ļøthis app-itās amazing. Guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!!!
