Zoho Assist - Remote Desktop

Works well. The interface is user friendly and very helpful. I keep finding reviews from people who have been scammed online. Unfortunately, the scammer who targeted them selected Zoho Assist, just as they might have chosen TeamViewer, AnyDesk, LogMeIn, or any other platform. I sincerely empathize with the distressing experience you faced, but I urge everyone to move beyond this event and think rationally. Is it just to blame a tool that is meant to assist you due to your own inexperience in identifying online scammers? Is it right to speak negatively about Zoho Assist simply because it was misused by unscrupulous people? Designed to streamline the computer repair process, Zoho Assist allows users to avoid the hassle of taking their devices to a shop and waiting for extended periods. Instead, it offers remote assistance, which can be a significant time and cost saver. However, the potential for misuse is an unfortunate reality that extends beyond the tech industry, affecting areas like medicine, where drugs can be misused, and politics, where power can be misappropriated. I hope this reflection is constructive and not bothersome to anyone. My curiosity was sparked after diving into various reviews.

If you think this is great you’ve never used remote control software before. Pitiful performance, absolute garbage design, and above all hidden limitations to force you to subscribe. Everyone wants monthly money for something you may use one a month or less frequent give the crap experience. But these guys are not up front about it. You have to contact support to ask why your app randomly disconnects by itself. To top it all off you now have to give them your cell phone number to gain access to your account. But it doesn’t become a 2FA thing like your lead to believe. No, anyone with access to that cell phone number can simply log in to your account. So they traded the password for a cellphone number. What a bunch of incompetent idiots. Not only do they sell cell phone numbers to advertisers, but now if you lose that number or switch from it but forgot to remove it from your account - which you cannot do unless you provide another and set that one as primary - your account is now whoever’s. Top notch security model. And here’s another beautiful thing: they had a major database leak back in May of 2019 and notified nobody about it! I was looking through the list of computers and mail software authorized to log in and found multiple different locations. No confirmation email for logins, it didn’t seem suspicious to them that in the same day someone from NY and another from GA logged on to the account. The least they could have door is invalidate all sessions and reset password for app users. But I bet you they didn’t even know they were hacked. So, want to be a target of stupidity and privacy abuse? Use Zoho services.

Recently started using this as a replacement for TeamViewer (free edition). I do alot of remote support and I was looking for a free solution with minimal effort to get running. I looked into several free alternatives that could do unattended and remote support but I needed something that could get setup in restricted networks only ssl and http open. I couldn't find a free solution that I didn't need to open ports or setup some sort of reverse proxy. I then looked for paid solutions and found many that cost a fair amount but they worked then I found Zoho assist not only did it do what I wanted but had a free version and even the payfor version didn't break the bank!
