Ancient Faith

Firstly, I’m deeply grateful for all AFM does, & I’m grateful for this app. The recently released non-backward compatible version removed quite a lot of functionality & is considerably less usable. Having a log in no longer seems to serve any purpose as all my old preferences are gone & there seems to be no way to create new ones. We must now slog through the entire list of recently released content to find what we want, which given the list isn’t always in release order, is quite tedious. At a minimum, a “filter on following” is mandatory to make this new version usable.

I have no issues with the content provided by Ancient Faith Media. This is a review of the app itself. I downloaded the new version of the app fairly recently. While the functionality and appearance of the app are vastly improved over the previous one, there are several areas that make it very challenging to use. First, the search function is often either extremely slow or nonfunctional. Second, whenever I open the app, no matter what network I’m on, I receive error messages regarding loading my following and favorites. I don’t have any added, so maybe that’s what the error is. Third, I sometimes lose progress on podcast episodes that I’ve saved to my downloads and listened to. Fourth, sometimes downloads simply fail for unclear reasons. The only way I can get them to work is to select the download option and remain within the sub-menu where that option exists. These are minor things individually but add up to make the app frustrating to use.

After living in an area where the Greek Orthodox churches were not entirely Christian focused, I was disgusted and I had stopped going to church. After 8 years of not going to my church this app was the lifeline that hooked and bated me back to my true home. The first time I heard it was like drinking a glass of water on a hot day. I highly recommend that Orthodox Christians talk about it with each other and advertise it in their church bullitans. Christ did end up leading me to move to an area that has several very nice Greek Orthodox churches. But this was the start. Thank you so much to God and those who made this App for Him. PS make sure your kids going off to college have it downloaded on their phone.
