PrayerMate - Christian Prayer

I’ve been using PrayerMate for several years and it’s a good tool to keep thoughts and prayers up-to-date. I really appreciated when they added the individual cards under prayer lists. The biggest flaw is the lack of relational database design. It would be ideal if there was a feature where you pulled up a specific date and had a list (or all the cards) that apply to that date. Or, when I have a friend who has several prayer requests, to have both specific categories for him/her and/ or general categories to assign prayers within a specific card. For example, if I’m praying for John, I’d like to be able to pull into one spot all the prayer requests for his wife Jill. Or, if I’m praying for my Wednesday morning group, all the prayer requests for a specific date. Thanks for considering the suggestion.

How often does someone ask you to pray for them? You promise you will, and then you just forget? Or maybe you’re one of those folks who uses formal prayers or the Psalms, or maybe you’ve just got a long list… PrayerMate to the rescue. This is a great little app. Personally, my mind tends to wander (and there are those who say it’s too little to be out wandering alone!) - PrayerMate helps me focus. I often include photos of the people I’m praying for (you can do that in PrayerMate). I also include key Scriptures to remind me of things I need to focus on (“Trust in the Lord…” Proverbs 3:5-6). If your prayer list is very long and you want to include certain things only on certain days or just use the app to mix things up a bit to keep prayer time fresh and not end up with a stale routine… yup. It does that too. The UI is really nice - clean and intuitive and yes, of course, it has dark mode. Answered prayers can be archived, but I’ve created an “answered!” list and move answered prayers to it - I’ll then add a few reminders from it every day to remind me of God’s faithfulness… I could go on but you’d do better to check it out for yourself - it’s free! I have long wanted to organize my prayer life. I’ve heard of the index card method, others who have different sections in a notebook, always including some system for recording answers to prayer. Neither of those systems worked for me, at all. So much work that just ends up looking messy. Enter prayer mate. Setup did take a while, especially since I as a perfectionist wanted current photos connected to the individual (Facebook to get a current picture, upload to contacts, go to prayer mate and upload with request). You can also easily share with the person that you prayed for them. (Another good reason to make sure you have a decent picture of them.) But it was absolutely worth it. I now have all my prayer requests in one spot. I don’t wait for life circumstances to remind me of a need to prayer for someone or something. I don’t feel guilty about how infrequently I pray for someone or something. You create from lists (churches, coworkers, family, unbelievers, ...), some of which are suggested at the outset. You choose per list how often you want to pray for the list and how many things on the list. They also provide prayer packs, many of which are free. Praise to God, straight from the Bible. Praying for others, biblical examples. Personal walk with God, based on Scriptural commands. And different suggestions for other highly-recommended lists. This would not be the only way to have a solid prayer life. But I love having all these resources dropped into my lap for praying biblically and solidly right away. One of my favorite apps of all!
