Very useful for getting correct engine power settings for a wide range of conditions for proper engine break-in. Also for setting up and checking the horsepower constant for engine monitors.
This app (and its companion app for iPad, called AircraftPower) are fantastic tools that every Lycoming and Continental operator should have in flight. The ability to enter your altitude, barometer setting, and outside air temperature, and then set RPM and manifold pressure for an exact power setting, is invaluable!
I always like the iPad version of this app but glad there is now a iPhone version so I can use it when my iPad is running my moving map app or I choose to just fly with my iPhone on short flights. This app allows me to safely know when to lean the mixture using the actual tables from lycoming. No guessing or appropriating what percent power my engine is running at.
