Overall I love my routine with Alter. I like the flexibility to add a workout outside what is offered. You can pick cardio or strength and just run a timer. This was nice for the past week at a conference when I didn’t have access to my Mirror. The diverse options for cardio and strength keep my interest. My biggest complaint was how long it took to get my DNA results. They don’t allow you to use the mirror or their workouts until you have your results. I had the mirror for almost 3 months before I could start using it. The Body scan function is interesting. Not sure how accurate it is. I did it 2x in a row and there was some variation in the measurements it gave (my neck being the oddest change?). Also the band is poorly made. I immediately broke the wrist band just trying to change it to the arm band. The band will frequently have trouble connecting to the app after wearing it all night to monitor sleep. It would be nice if it could read my iWatch during workouts. Overall Alter had helped me get back to a workout routine. I feel better and love that it is versatile.

This is a perfect choice for anyone that wants to get back in shape. By actually listening to your body? What a novel idea. (Sarcasm) I can’t believe no one has come up with a program like this until now. I’m a former P90X guy until I torn a meniscus in my knee doing plyometrics. At 60 years old working back into shape wasn’t going to be easy. Tearing the meniscus made me realize I need to be more aware of what my body is telling me. P90X is “no holes bared foot to the floor “ type of workout and it is great but I needed to be smarter about my workouts and Alter tells me what I need to do each day. If I have more energy at the end of the day I may do another light workout. But it has been a game changer for
Me. I’m already down 5 lbs in my first week and I actually have energy at the end of the day.

UPDATE: twice now my mirror shows as disconnected in the app. When the screen is on is shows my wifi network correctly. Help center doesn’t help. I’m liking the workout less as I continue to use it. Transition style is frustrating to me. I have mobility issues and transitions are too fast. Pausing the is possible but frustrating. It is becoming more clear that alter has not considered pre beginners as one of the target audiences—which is fine. I just wish I had known that going in. I don’t consider doing a plank as beginner but that could also just be my opinion. Coaches don’t really explain coming exercises just show them. I personally prefer explaining while showing. Only strength exercises seem to have a timer and a list of exercises to be complete—cardio does not. Waiting on communication for the screen connectivity issue but will ask to send the whole mess back as the workouts are more frustrating than helpful for my level of activity.
So far I’m liking using the mirror for workouts—only about a week into using it. Personally, the challenge is the height of the screen when I am on the floor—I am more than 6 feet away from mirror and still have to strain my neck to see the screen. This, so far, is the thing that bugs me.
