Amateur

The one good thing I can say about this app is that individual samples usually sound great. In particular, the style of the sampling is dense and lush. Other than that, the app is pretty bad. Obvious bugs abound and updates are rare. Scaling does not work properly. The interface is cluttered and outdated even when it works, with almost no proper sound organization. Instruments aren’t labeled by character, but scattered like loose seed into one long list with evocative names such as “Horns 1” “Horns 2” and “Horns 3”. MIDI mapping doesn’t work consistently. There are a host of problems which occur when hosting that app as an Auv3. Some parts of the interface are often simply unresponsive in certain layouts. There are no proper articulations. Many libraries have shallow multisampling with obvious repeating timbres. Reverb tails are stiff and abridged. The pianos are cheesy; two decades behind modern libraries, and outdated even on this platform. The enormous disk size is laughable; a silly, amateur throwback to the early days of PC sample hucking. Ooh wow, it’s so big! It must be good. This app is comparable in size to the largest desktop UVI libraries, but with none of the deeply multisampled, professional, well-coded quality or dedication to the product or platform. Highly overrated instrument with glacial development and nothing but rough edges. I encourage you to deeply consider your use case for a bloated, middling orchestral library. This isn’t the only option.

Great app!

I have this on two iPads. Why two? Memory… I have some large apps on both, and I don’t want to lose any of them. So, I divide the XinematiX library between two iPads. This may not be ideal for everyone, but it works for me… Great sounds! The price for everything is a no-brainer! I put the important/most used sounds on one, the rest are on the other. (Truly, I need to replace my Pro!) I’ve got quite a few hardware synths; but I’ve been buying up most of the apps. I have nearly all of Harry’s apps; stellar stuff!

Confusing

Pay $1100 for all the packs(!) and it might be easy to navigate. If you don’t or haven’t The sounds you “own” are not easy to demarcate from empty patches you don’t with this layout. So over and over in use you end up trying to simply choose a working patch in each of the three slots but end up with something that won’t make a sound. I can already see if I bought 3 or 4 navigating to something that works would still be a convoluted maze of frustration so unreasonable that I’ll just pass altogether until I happen to have $1100 to blow all at once on a $100 app. Sheesh. One star instead of none because the sounds I heard are not horrible, but still nothing like something like Omnisphere or whatever on desktop which for the whole freaking thing is cheaper than the whole package for this monstrously overpriced proposition. First Virsyn product I have (I own most of them) that I don’t think is a great value for what you get. Hope this atrocious business model doesn’t spread like black mold or covid or something. Bad day when an iOS app with all its possible bells and whistles is more pricey than a comparable desktop alternative, even worse if said alternative is arguably better notwithstanding admittedly what you get does live up to Virsyn quality we have long and deeply appreciated on the iOS platform.
