Chrono: Time in Place

I’ve been a Chrono user since the early days, and it’s been impressive to watch how thoughtfully the app has evolved. Each update has made it more polished, more accurate, and more useful without adding unnecessary complexity. Chrono does exactly what it promises, quietly and reliably builds a defensible timeline of where you’ve spent your time. For anyone who travels frequently, manages multiple residences, or needs to stay within tax or visa thresholds, this is invaluable. The biggest benefit is peace of mind. No more reconstructing calendars or scrambling at tax time, you have precise, up-to-date data that’s easy to review and share with a tax professional. The residency goal tracking is especially well designed. Strong privacy posture, a clear use case, and execution that feels professional rather than gimmicky. If where you spend your time has real financial or legal consequences, this app is absolutely worth it.

This app seemed to have what I need but it has several fatal flaws. 1. Data errors, such as saying I am in Mexico when I am clearly in Texas miles from the border. 2. A system error that said I was in Providence Rhode Island when I was in China (they gave me a lousy response to my complaint) 3. You cannot export your data after your subscription ends. 4. Inaccurate distance travelled data (how hard is correctly calculating the distance between two gps coordinates! Ultimately it is an amateurish app and not worth your money and also not trustworthy with your tax data!

I am constantly on the road and need detailed, verifiable analytics regarding when, and for how long, I’m in various locations. This app has proven to be the perfect solution. My CPA and I will both experiencing tremendous quality of life improvements come tax-time. I also appreciate their privacy policy.
