Downloaded the app, created an account, completed my profile and went for a couple of routine drives. The app goes offline the moment you leave your home WiFi even though cellular data is turned on for the app. You cannot bring the app online by any method except returning to home WiFi and pressing the offline message, which is neither intuitive nor stated in the message or anywhere else. Nor can you exit that screen to seek app help. It also does not record your drives apparently while offline, or perhaps at all. As of yet, they still haven’t appeared, nor have any of the other drives appeared. Hard quit the app, rebooted the phone. Same results. Deleted the app, rebooted the phone, downloaded and reinstalled the app and tried again. Same thing. Additionally, there’s no configuration setting for BEVs. BEVs naturally accelerate much faster than an ice car due to the torque conversion. Odds are you’ll get dinged for normal or even slow EV acceleration, but since it doesn’t record, doesn’t stay online except when using WiFi, it doesn’t really matter. Don’t download it, don’t use it. Probably a scam to get data and nothing more. Deleted.
I have been trying this app because it was recommended as a way to assist new drivers with identifying driving issues. I’m a very seasoned driver (think grandma driver) and the app consistently registers extremely low scores on the same treks each day, although most other areas are fairly high. It appears to potentially be one one of the following that receive poor handling scores: dirt/gravel roads, areas that would normally be school zones (but aren’t speed restricted when I’m on them because school is out), or possibly new/poorly mapped roads. The app doesn’t really identify Why a score is lowered, so not really helpful unless you already know where you are deficient. We use a second app that is sponsored by our insurance company that works better and provides actual feedback, but doesn’t have the gamified aspects that encourage the younger folks to use it.
So far i have had the app for around a week and they do have some fun reward opportunities. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars would be its slightly inaccurate. I’m not sure how they can count turning, speed, braking, phone usage, etc. but it seems like it’s not entirely accurate. I went no more then 3 over the speed limit on an interstate and my speed score was around 50. I was fairly disappointed by that but otherwise it’s distance, pyn collecting and daily trivia are accurate and fun! Highly recommend
