The app generally works but is not nearly as snappy as most other mapping apps. This is so disappointing as it has so much potential. I’ve had some issues with linking to my bike but I get it to with most of the time. My biggest gripe is that location has to be set to “always”. This is so unnecessary and drains phone battery when not using the app unless you remember to turn it off, only to be reminded next time you open the app that it must be switched on again. Route saving and editing would be a plus. Hopefully RE can invest some time into creating something great. It really has a lot of potential to be something special.
1) How can I tell what version I’m on? 2) Please allow saving routes, it’s a pain to have to re-enter routes every time I want to go to a different one of my favorite locations, it would be a much better application that way. I sincerely hope that you aren’t waiting to put that behind a pay wall as that would be massively bad advertising for your motorcycle line, probably enough for me to just remove the tripper and put something else in that spot and just get a gps device. And badmouth you harshly where now I have been singing the Himalayan’s praise to every motorcycle rider that I encounter. Don’t do that. Update 1 year later You still can’t save routes, I have worked with Indian programmers in Pune and other places multiple times and you/they are good enough to have done this easily. WHY AREN’T YOU DOING THIS??? It doesn’t require any more hardware than you already on the smartphone. For any significant trips I now have to mount a gps which uses up handlebar space I could really use for other things. If I continually have to use an external gps then your device is just a useless irritating ornament. WHY DON’t YOU JUST DO IT???
This app is pretty basic. The integration with Tripper works well and I like the turn by turn guidance. However, after building a complex route, I thought I’d be able to add it to the “my routes” section, but I wasn’t able to. In fact, “my routes” stays grayed out and can’t even be interacted with. I tried sending the route to myself but all that did was send me a link to the app. I tried starting the route and ending it, hoping it would give me the option to save it for future reference, but it didn’t. Whatever “my routes” is supposed to be, it’s not. In fact, it’s nothing at the moment. The app description says you can save routes but that functionality is currently non-existent. Please, PLEASE, add route saving. If you can’t, please allow for routes to be uploaded from other standardized file types. This app has potential, even as a basic navigation app. Without route saving, it’s basically the same driving directions you’d get in a car and takes away from the joy of exploring or scenic rides. I will update my review if the app adds this functionality.
