IF you are looking for a station that plays Classic Rock we all love AND commercial free, STOP! You’ve found it, The Roots. This is not the “40” Classic Rock everyone else plays. I appreciate occasionally hearing songs by artists I recognize and I forgot about or maybe a song I have never heard. That is variety my friends. This is the second incarnation of this great station. This time to keep it going, it’s listener supported. If you listen, you’ll like it. If you like it, support it! No freeloaders please. Membership levels starting $6 a month. Check it out. Become a member. Your Ears will THANK you. As will the rest of us members.

The Roots is truly FREE FORM ALBUM ROCK! These guys know their music and their listeners!! Hear the songs that you haven’t heard in years and others the you’ve never heard that you will instantly love! A GREAT station and the app is totally free! No hidden charges! I especially like the sound. It sounds great in the car and in the home sound system.

This is what I could not find elsewhere on the interwebs. I don’t understand why this market is so under utilized. We have an HD station in STL, but I don’t always have an HD radio close by. This is just the ticket to fill that void. Commercial free AOR that we grew up with. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

We focus on classic and deep tracks we bet you have not heard in many years. Many of the tunes you will hear on The Roots. Fm never appeared on CD, so we have transferred the original vinyl LPs and preserved them as uncompressed digital files. We still lightly touch the Classic Rock hits, but we don't play them repeatedly.
Our primary stream is 64K HE-AAC+ which provides high-quality sound and still works well on mobile devices. Our second stream, The Roots HD, is 128K HE-AAC, close to CD quality. You will never hear an MP3 format file on The Roots. Fm. Only uncompressed digital files.
