I posted this on Facebook just now: Wow! I just got off the phone. I wanted to find out about a new product that Life Extension Foundation is offering. I hesitated because I wasn’t sure if it would work for a problem I am having right now, and when I attempted the chat, it immediately gave me a number to call. Meh. I hate making phone calls. I already have the Nagish app but I have used it only twice, in nice long conversations with my son, and the success of those two conversations was the only reason I was willing to ‘just give it a try’. The people at Life Extension are the nicest you will find on earth. Wow. Absolutely fabulous! It was so easy to talk with them, there was no reason to explain I was using a relay service, the captioning was done in real time, and once again LEF came through and said the product I inquired about was good, but there was one better and that product about half the price! Nagish and LEF both came together and gave me a wonderful day! And Nagish! My world has just popped open another dimension! I won’t be dreading phone calls ever again!

I’ve used a TTY and IP relay before. Nowadays I can’t stand being obligated to type GA, SK and other abbreviations. Nagish eliminates those with its full automation of text-based calling to voice phone numbers. Voicemail transcriptions are the most accurate I’ve ever experienced. I mostly use Nagish for its text-to-speech functionality. Its synthetic voice speaks very clearly and does not sound robot-like at all. My callers love having a more natural conversation directly with me. When I’m on hold, it’s nice to be able to hear the hold music. Despite the completely neurological nature and mildness of my hearing condition, now that Nagish has obtained FCC certification to provide IP Relay services even to nonspeaking people withOUT decibel hearing losses, I no longer have any fear of getting in trouble for using Nagish.

It would be great to integrate microphone with noise canceling focus on voice support on websites to order or connect hearing aid receivers directly to Nagish. This could enable automatic closed captioning or transcription. Closed captioning (CC) is a major challenge, especially when trying to use personal AR or VR glasses at the movie theater. It’s important that CC includes all background sounds and ambient audio—everything that contributes to a full experience. Reception quality also needs to be strong to clearly capture both words and sounds for an inclusive experience. One issue I’ve run into: when I switch away from the app and return, the reception sometimes fails to pick up the sound again. I usually have to shut down and relaunch the app for it to work properly.
