Good game overall, although the large brown guys with magic wands who shoot explosive purple blasts are imbalanced (if you get a bunch in an enclosed area you die in seconds). I’ll update the review if fixed, but right now the Mind Blast equipment (orange thing, second to last unlock on the left) is bugged. I spent a lot fully upgrading it so it’s “frequency” is supposed to be 8 and it should last 12 seconds but neither is true. It only appears on rare occasions, and it only lasts 1-2 seconds when I get it. It’s also confusing to use, I think you’re supposed to draw little lines to attack the enemies, but it’s over so quickly it’s not obvious. It also frequently leaves the camera bugged and pulled out after finishing (so far out that it’s hard to see where you are). Really busy levels will also crash the game fairly frequently. I only have the game running (no background apps) and quality at “medium” (the lowest setting), but a level with 5-6 of those brown guys with purple explosive magic blasts combined with a gun that shoots lots of shots (like the Ricochet) will often hard crash the game.
Love the game, the controls are fun and the further you go the more fast paced things get. The later levels get a bit frustrating as enemies start spawning at the end of the level, you survive a flurry of enemies and somehow have some ammo left and maybe a power up and you just want to progress to the next round of the stage, all you have to do is hop in your car. But oh no wait, there are enemies there waiting that you will auto attack, wasting that ammo you saved for the next round, and if you’re low on health welp you’ll only lose more because there a bunch of enemies in a tight space with you with no cover. It’s just incredibly frustrating to make it through a thrilling round only to die trying to jump into my car. And its not like there’s any genius to this mechanic, no innovation with this bookend to a level, more enemies just spawn there with each progressive stage. It’s really starting to kill my enjoyment of the game because it completely undercuts the tense gameplay of the rest of the level when it all whittles down to can I survive a flurry of attacks in a cramped space to my parked car.
So I am a moron. And this story shows how little I know about gaming. I mess around with it, but I am no 'gamer' person. lol Anyway, I spent DAYS trying to get past chapter 5. I realized after I finally beat it that I had not equipped my weapon even though I had been upgrading it. Well, let me tell you what, it's a lot easier with a weapon equipped. I am sailing through it now. But really, there should be an achievement for completing chapter 5 with no weapon devs! 🤣 By the way, I never leave reviews for games. But this, this is a testament to how good this game is because every other game that frustrated me like CMD I promptly deleted. Not even worth the effort for my personality. If the game pisses me off, it ain’t worth it. But I persevered here and man, am I glad I did and realized my blunder because this game is truly awesome. I hope it gets lots of updates and levels! 10/10 recommend.
