Honestly itโs very misleading to advertise 7.4kW charging speed but car only receives 6 and the amperage is set to the highest acceptable. Also an activation fee?!? EVgo was the only other charging infrastructure to charge $1 for activation fee (how are they doing, Hmm??) and if you need to interrupt charging to run a quick errand and return getting the $1 charged again! I have found itโs cheaper to go to a supercharger when rate is $0.35/kW and it be cheaper and faster. I appreciate the convenience though of charging at my apt but itโs basically when Iโm sure need to charge and need to do it overnight vs a quick charge and park or charging to 100. Seems archaic for the activation fee! Should at least be waived for residents.
So Iโll start if with this. I live in an apartment complex that has several of these units in it. If I plug my Tesla in and leave it over night I come back to full charge for far less than I would going to a supercharger where I have to stay in the car if thereโs nothing in the complex I need. Convenient for this fact and the few times Iโve used it has been nice. However, as others have said the $2 activation fee is steep. But my issue is more with what happened. I started charging overnight as I have times before. Then my Tesla app sent me a message that charging stopped. Gave an error of a communication error. I went out to check on it and found the light on the station off completely. I used the app to stop charging and it gave an error stating that the station was offline but charging would stop. Then I go to another station in my parking garage to try again but it says I already have an active charging going on. But it wonโt start and wonโt stop. I guess now I have to wait until they repair that station so I can use it again and go back to the supercharger stations until itโs fixed. I may update my rating when that issue is resolved and the system doesnโt do this again if it happens again, but that Iโll reserve for a later time. I hope to again use these as they super convenient for where I live currently.
My apartment just installed these chargers, switching from ChargePoint. I have no idea why. After waiting for over a week for them to be installed, I go to charge my id.4 and it wonโt charge. Had to pay a ridiculous initial fee of $20. After trying FOUR times, my card was charged a total of $80. The charges will drop off, but thatโs besides the point. And then, to boot, I try a Flo charger across the street from my apartment, that Iโve successfully used multiple times, and my car wonโt now wonโt accept the Flo charger. Loop says they escalated the issue but it seems from the reviews that this is an ongoing problem. So now my car is at the dealership for them to reset my charger. They say that sometimes if a charger puts out too much electricity the battery will go into safe mode and just wonโt allow any charging to occur until the system has been reset. Very very upset about this switch to Loop and am expressing this to my apartment complex as well.
