DCENT Wallet - Secure Crypto

It was easy to set up, although the limited buttons makes it take an extra long time to do so. You have to press the up or down buttons all the way through the alphabet and then press OK when you arrive at the correct letter when verifying your seed phrase. Also, part of the reason I ordered this wallet was for free XRP (promotion deal) and the yield earning abilities on XRPL. I emailed the company because there were no instructions for claiming the free XRP and still have not heard back. In the meantime I moved some XRP out of an exchange and it arrived in my new D’CENT cold storage wallet without issue. However, when I attempted to set up yield earning abilities through Flare or Doppler Finance I got a firmware update notification. I emailed the link to myself and opened it on my PC, followed all the instructions and installed the update to the latest version. No problem until I went back to try staking XRP and again got the notification to update firmware. I cannot move forward even though in the device settings it shows that it is updated to the latest version. However, the app doesn’t seem to know that the device is updated and I cannot start earning yield until this issue is resolved. So far, I am not happy with D’CENT other than as a cold storage option. I thought because it was made in South Korea that it would be a higher quality product. The screen is so tiny I had to use a magnifying glass to double check the words for the seed phrase. The lower case ‘a’ and ‘n’ looked identical otherwise. The plastic that it is made from feels cheap and I can’t help but wonder what the lifespan of this device will be. By contrast, Tangem cards are rated to withstand heat, cold, rain, sunshine, etc. and last decades. I just wanted to be able to safely store and compound my XRP.

I bought this wallet 1.5 yrs ago because Ledger did not support some of my assets. I love the look of it, how thin it is and you have to use your fingerprint to access wallet, because it is biometric. Set up was super easy for me. Upgrade became easy once I read instructions carefully. I do not appreciate the fact that you can only upgrade via Google Chrome as I don’t trust or in favor of google, other than that no complaints. Transfer of coins easy. And overall interaction with the app makes me very happy. I never had to contact support until recently. I’m an inpatient monkey when it comes to responses as I want help Now. It took 48hrs to get response back only because my issue happened on a weekend. Come Monday, and my issue was resolved. I was transferring my BTC and it got stock on blockchain without being confirmed due to 2 reasons. 1. Transaction fee was too low. 2. I was transferring entire amount which raised a red flag for some reason. I wasn’t worried about losing funds, I knew that eventually transaction will be kicked back to my wallet, but I was still frustrated cause I did nothing to lower the fee, fee was supposed to be automatically calculated. And I wasn’t willing to wait up to 14 days which might take sometimes to see my funds back in my wallet. I was trying to figure out how to use the option Replace by Fee, to increase transaction fee on blockchain myself. Unfortunately I didn’t find that option w D’cent. Nevertheless, once customer support got back to me in 48hrs regarding my transaction ID, they’ve advised of a very easy solution. I was able to cancel my transaction by sending it back to myself. Just make sure you provide them with transaction ID if you’re facing similar issue. Purchased due to needing additional wallet for assets not supported by my other wallet. Looking forward to getting the rest of my crypto offline. Overall the wallet is cool. I like the security features. Not so easy to setup as the print is so small and my eyes are not so great. Also the ‘ok’ button was quite sensitive making the seed phrase verification process difficult. I had issues when updating the firmware but tech support was awesome and assisted quickly and communicated clearly. Overall would purchase again.
