The Jazz Groove

Fantastic improvement with the recent update. Does nearly everything you’d want it to do. Love all the features we paid for with our subscription: the channels, the lack of advertisements. Just one missing. I can give you a fifth star when you allow a subscriber to skip a track as she can with the website. Otherwise, great job! Thanks for the brand new app.

With 2 different listening options of rhythmic instrumental jazz channels free from vocalists ("Mix 1" & "Mix2""), a jazz singer channel ("Gems") , a channel featuring both singers and instrumentalists ("Smooth Jazz"), plus a sleep time channel ("Dreams") this app offers great choices. The app itself is very easy to use and change listening mood among the 5 channels; it loads quickly and is sparing of mobile devices' batteries. Anyone who appreciates good music should try this app because they will find at least one musical channel to enjoy. Download and use is free, so everyone can listen and see for themselves. (There is the option to become a participating donor and contributors then get to personalize certain app features.) The app has been updated in 2021 and is now superb.

Unlike their previous version, this new 64 bit seems better able to withstand fluctuations in LTE signal strength. Whereas the prior version dropped out at 2 bars, this one holds longer. Unfortunately, they still haven’t grasped the concept of buffering. As for the music, only the late, great KPLU Tacoma/Seattle bettered The Jazz Groove & ONLY because KPLU played a lot of vocalists. I suppose this has something to do with copyrights. An NPR affiliate, KPLU benefited from it’s quarterly fund drives plus what they received from DC. That said, I’ve not found a better jazz app. You’d do well adding this to your collection of music apps.
